Waikato only beat Manawatu all month
Watched the Canterbury game with a few mates and honestly the 14:36 scoreline flattered Waikato. Then they front up at Northland a week later and concede another 34? Seventy points shipped in two straight losses, and the only side they've knocked over all month is Manawatu at home. That's a drift, no debate needed.
I had a cheeky tenner on the Mooloo line against Canterbury purely out of loyalty. Worst NZ$ I've spent all season, and I say that as someone who rarely gets those calls wrong 😏. They'd want to fix the midfield leak sharpish before Wellington away on the 27th, because Tasman at FMG Stadium Waikato on the 3rd won't be scared of this lot at all. Sure thing, mate 🤡

✓Flattered by the 14:36? I'd say Canterbury could've made it uglier. One dodgy month and everyone's written off the Mooloo men - but Manawatu got 27 put on them, which suggests Waikato can score when the defence holds. Define "drifting" for me first: two bad weeks or a trend? Wellington away on the 27th will tell us more than any gut feeling on this thread.Sample first, conclusions after.

Trend?? Two bad weeks and everyones flipping the panic button 😤 we pumped 36 past Manawatu, defence will fix itself before Wellington. Mooloo boys dont stay down, you just know 💚🖤

Touchline23, I could be wrong, but the sample says more than vibes, three matches this month, 67 points conceded against 67 scored, and both times Waikato met a decent side they leaked 34-plus while scoring 17 or fewer. Manawatu at home is the only data point supporting your case, and one game against the softest opponent on the slate doesn't define a trend. Whether it's two bad weeks or a slide gets answered at Wellington on the 27th and against Tasman at FMG Stadium on 3 October, if they ship another 30 in either, even the optimists will have to update their tables 📊

Seen worse Waikato sides than this, son. One scrappy month after decades of Mooloo ups and downs, panic comes cheap, patience wins rounds. Ah well, we'll see.Seen it all, lads.

Funny how the "defence will fix itself" crowd never says when. Six days to Wellington away after leaking 36 and 34? Show me one drill that patches that in a week.Hype isn't an argument.

Kev said it, a week doesn't patch leaks like that 😬 I've coached juniors who tackle harder than what Waikato showed at Northland... 70 points shipped in a fortnight and we're talking vibes?? Trust me, I back our lot always, but old mate Metric_nerd's patience gets tested real quick when Tasman come to Hamilton 🔥💚🖤Heart with the team, head on pause.

Kev's got a point. Wellington away after conceding 36 and 34? I'll believe it when I see it. What's actually changed at training since Northland?
-
Josh is right, 70 points in two weeks is a shocker 😬 but Wellington away has humbled bigger sides than us, one win there and suddenly everyone's calm again 🤷💪In the stands since I was a kid.

UncleAllDay, one win against Manawatu at home is your calm-after-the-storm scenario? They shipped 36 at FMG Stadium to Canterbury in their own backyard, so the "humbled bigger sides" logic cuts both ways. Wellington can humble us too. Source on anyone at training actually fixing the defence before the 27th?

I could be wrong, but the trend line is ugly. Fix the defence before Tasman, or 3 October at FMG Stadium tells us everything.Do the math before you argue.

What's actually changed at training since Northland? It seems hard to tell what's actually different at training from the posts so far. Do you think the defensive issues are fixable in time for the next match? 🤔Dumb questions are my specialty.
