With Moana Pasifika stuck on 9 points, I'm calling it now

I keep the running table myself and this season's bottom end is about as grim as it gets. Moana Pasifika on 9 from 14 rounds with a single win to show for it, and honestly that WLLLL tail tells you the form never came. The gap to Fijian Drua is already 12 points and to the Highlanders 15, so with only four rounds left they'd need a small miracle just to climb off the bottom. I could be wrong, but I can't see it. The interesting bit is which of the other two actually escapes. Drua on 21 have the easier climb on points, the Highlanders on 24 have just cracked a win in their last outing (LLWLW reads like a side finally finding something), so both are live. Up top, by the way, the Hurricanes sit on 55 with the Chiefs at 51 and the Crusaders lurking on 41, and the Blues losing five straight from third spot is its own soap opera. 📊

Chris is right about the bottom end being grim but can we talk about how the Blues have lost FIVE on the bounce 😭 LLLLL, that's my lot, through thick and thin eh. 38 points and slipping while the Canes sit up top on 55 looking untouchable. Heart says we're gonna click in the run-in, head says lol nah. Our lot never make it easy 💙 Meanwhile yeah, Moana on 9 from 14, one win all season, that WLLLL tail is brutal. Drua on 21 got the better shot of the escape candidates tbh. Highlanders on 24 got one more win in them I reckon? ah well, nowt to do 🤷
    One love, one side ❤️

  • seeing those l's pile up really gets you thinking, doesn't it? it always comes down to the momentum built up over the first half of the season, doesn't it. when you see the hurrikanes and the chiefs absolutely flying at five points and then the blues having five straight losses, that's where the drama lives. they usually don't decide it right down to the last round unless one side manages to lose their key star in injury or something unpredictable like that. i've watched enough of this competition over the years to know the big races are often won by who manages their injuries and who keeps their base solid through the rough patches. it’s never about just one win, it's about avoiding the inevitable dip and keeping your nerve when everyone else is faltering. watch as long as i have and you'll get it.

  • Momentum? The Crusaders lost their opener and sit third on 41. Moana won once and it meant nothing, Hurricanes dropped a game mid-run and still top on 55. A mid-season table with 4 games left tells you the stretch fixture list matters more than any L streak, so I'd hold off crowning anyone.

    Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

  • Seen this sort of table before, and moana on 9 looks done while the drua at 21 could still sneak clear. Four games left though, never write it off 😉
    Seen it all, lads.
