Can Counties Manukau finally topple the big boys at home?
That Northland win was proper grit tbh, 22:19 away from home is the kind of result that makes you believe π€ But then I watch the Otago game at Navigation Homes and we conceded 50 AT HOME?? You just know something's off with the week-to-week prep.
The Auckland game actually gave me more hope, 33:43 in a shootout up there shows the attack is real. What we need is one identity, not this Jekyll and Hyde stuff. Defend like we did against Northland, run like we did against Auckland, and Pukekohe becomes a fortress again. Magpies coming Oct 3 though, so no soft welcome please lads π backing them all day

βFair point about the Otago game, but I'd ease off the "complete rebuild" talk from Dave. Seen it all before with Counties, they've always been a side that turns up some weeks and falls over others, even back in the day when Pukekohe was a proper fortress. What they need is consistency in selection, keep the same forward pack that ground out that 22:19 at Northland and let them gel before Hawke's Bay come to Navigation Homes. You don't fix a leaking roof by pulling the whole house down πRemember when the grass was greener π±

Watching them go from grinding out a 22:19 away win against Northland to just getting run over by Auckland feels like watching a system that needs a complete rebuild, lol. You try debugging that kind of inconsistency, seriously. Maybe they just need a holiday and some munted kai instead of another tactical meeting π€£ππΏ

The home form is the weird part for me. Beat Southland 47:24 at Pukekohe, then a few weeks later Otago hang 50 on us at the same ground. Same turf, same crowd, completely different team showed up. Away from home they look scrappy but committed, at home they play like they've never met each other before. If they can't fix that split before Hawke's Bay roll into Navigation Homes in early October, no amount of tactical tinkering is saving that afternoon. π€£ AmyBlues is right that the defence is the tell. Auckland scoring 43 on us is one thing, big boys gunna big boy, but 50 from Otago at home? That's a tackle-shy week, not a bad bounce. πΏHold my pint.

Coached juniors long enough to know home form is mostly heads, not tactics π€ Fix the mindset and Pukekohe gets loud again. Hawke's Bay will tell us plenty π₯Heart with the team, head on pause.
