Wellington vs Waikato at Hnry Stadium: can the bleeding finally stop?
FINALLY a home game we can actually get up for π€ 27 September, Hnry Stadium, Waikato coming to town and honestly I've been counting the days since that horror run started. Four on the trot, and that night in Christchurch still hurts to type about π I was there mate, 19-66, never seen us fold like that in my life. My old man reckons he watched worse in the 90s but I don't buy it.
But nah, this is the night lads. Home crowd, nothing to lose, and if the forwards front up for once we're right in this π¦ GET IN Lions, time to stop the bleeding!! π₯

βOi Tasman monstered us too π₯π anyone putting money on the Lions at the TAB right now is braver than me... but god I hope they front up at Hnry πͺYou don't abandon your own.

Brave money's on Waikato minus whatever the line is, probably double digits after that Canterbury mess. Home at Hnry might be the only thing keeping it under 10, that's where I'd look. πValue over a big price πΈ

knew a fellow on here would drag the TAB into it π that 66 in christchurch is as bad as anything i've seen since the amateur days, and i've sat through plenty of hidings. for what it's worth young fella, home soil counts for a bit - waikato won't fancy a cold night at hnry with the crowd on their backs, but the lads have to want it first. the young lot never saw a defence fold like this one, and trust me, you don't forget your first winter of them.Remember when the grass was greener π±

52 in one afternoon at home to Northland, a week after shipping 66. If that's not rock bottom I don't want to see what is πHere to argue, not to nod along.

That 66 at Christchurch brought back memories for me, and not the good kind. Back in the day I sat through a few autumn hidings at Athletic Park where you just stopped counting and started laughing, defensive shutters well and truly up. Watch as long as I have and you'll get it: a team that leaks 50 at home the very next week isn't having a bad afternoon, they've lost the plot somewhere between the ears. Agree with MatchdayTillIDie on the rot running deeper, though I'd add one caveat - a home crowd at Hnry on a spring night can drag a wounded side over the line more than any team talk. Seen it happen. Waikato won't fear them, mind, and that's exactly when Wellington sometimes bite. I'll be watching from the couch with a cuppa rather than paying for the privilege this time πWatch as long as I have and you'll get it.

Three away hidings in a row before Northland piled in at home, you can't spin that run π€‘ Anyone backing the Lions on 27 September wants their head read, sure thing, mate.

that christchurch one, 66 to 19, was grim alright. seen worse though, mind you β back in the day we copped a few autumn nights where you'd be watching through your fingers at Athletic Park and just laughing by fulltime, purely to stay sane π Fullback_Faithful, i'd love to disagree with you son but the run speaks for itself, three on the road, then Northland turning up at our place and putting 52 on us in our own backyard. that's the bit that stings, eh. home soil is where a proud province digs in. my old man used to say you can forgive a hiding away from home, but never one in front of your own crowd. if the Lions don't front on the 27th with Waikato coming to Hnry, then the rot's deeper than a bad away month, and no amount of optimistic talk from the coach will fix it. i'll be there anyway, same seat as always,NZ$ well spent or wasted, we'll find out. πSeen it all, lads.

My old man used to say the table never lies but hope always does, and this run has tested both sayings. Back in my day a hiding was a one-off bad Saturday, not four Saturdays in a row. Still, I've watched long enough to know a home crowd at Hnry can do funny things to a young side β Waikato won't be short of confidence though. We'll find out soon enough πBeen here longer than some have followed.
