i remember that july night like it was yesterday, i was in my mate's lounge in the hutt, a few of us old fellas and a heap of beer, and when the whistle went we were all bawling like babies 😄 back in the day i'd have watched it at the pub but that night, just mates and the telly, couldn't beat it. twenty years of waiting done in one whistle. ah well, we'll see if we ever get another night like it 😉

Was at a mate's place in Timaru, few of us yelling at the telly 🔥 grown men crying, no shame tbh. Stoked forever 💪🙌

  • @OldSchool_SinceDayOne2016 watching from the cowshed office on farm, dad yelling louder than the radio 😂 grown men crying is fair, I was the same 💪
    One love, one side ❤️

  • Was in my truck cab outside Taupo that night, parked up with the radio on because I couldn't bear not knowing the score minute by minute 😄 pulled over for the last ten and just sat there grinning like an idiot when it went our way. Twenty years of waiting and me in a hi-vis, wouldn't have had it any other way. My old man saw the Canes get beaten in finals back before many of you lot were watching; he'd have loved that whistle.
Watch as long as I have and you'll get it.

  • I was on a night shift at the warehouse, sneaking score updates on my phone in the loading bay 😂 boss came out, saw me crying, pretended he didn't. Legend 🤣
Only serious one here — barely.

@Lee_Fan that boss sounds like a proper bloke, keeping his head down while you're blubbing in the loading bay 😂 word going round back then was more than one workplace quietly turned a blind eye that night. My source reckons half the country was sneaking updates at work, doesn't surprise me at all. I was at the clubrooms here, and I'll tell you the room just lifted when it sealed. Grown men who hadn't hugged each other since the nineties were bear-hugging strangers 🤫 Twenty years on and that's still the night everyone circles back to. Screenshot this: they'll be telling stories about it in another twenty.
    Those who know, know.

  • Had a few bucks on them taking the title that season at decent odds early on, so that final whistle paid for a very good night at the pub in Whanganui 😄 best payout I've ever felt emotionally anyway. Only multi since that's come close to landing like that. Nothing's touched it.
Value over a big price 💸
