Time to raid Auckland again
Word is there's a Blues playmaker proper dirty about his game time up in Auckland, and word is there's been murmurs about him running the ten/twelve channel somewhere north. Won't name names because I'd like to keep my TAB multi intact. Put a cheeky NZ$20 on him being in a different jersey by round three, long odds but pays like a Bunnings NPC upset 😏
Imagine him stepping out at Semenoff on a Friday night though. Tunnell crowd, loud as anything, Auckland boys watching on wondering why he left. In reality, would the union even cover his wage? That's the part nobody wants to answer. Who's your dream pick then lads, or are we all just happy raiding Auckland for their castoffs again? 😂

Fair question from GloryDays on sourcing, and I'll add the duller question nobody's asking: does it actually make sense on paper? A twelve with NZR minutes under his belt, mid-to-late twenties, tied to a contracted franchise — those moves happen, but usually only when the player's already been squeezed out of the 23 for a full season, not when he's just grumbling about rotation. And there's a nuance here: a playmaker unhappy with game time at the Blues still gets paid super wages and stays near family. Whangarei on a Friday night is romantic to us, it's a pay cut and a rebuild to him. That said, the profile fits our hole better than most recruitment rumours we've chased. We've cycled through converted wings and journeymen at twelve for years, and whoever this is, a ten/twelve dual threat would fix our attack patterning overnight. We currently make the most metres of the bottom four teams and turn over possession at the rate of the worst.
