Twenty years on and I still get chills remembering the 2016 title
I was at a mate's place in Gisborne that night, twenty of us crammed round a telly older than half the squad π watched BJ slash through that final and thought, good grief, this is actually happening. Been following the Canes since the amateur days when you'd freeze your toes off at the local grounds just hoping for a sniff of silverware, so that night felt like forty years of waiting paid off in one go.
Funny thing is my old man rang me halfway through the second half, voice all croaky, and neither of us said much - just listened to the noise from the stadium down the line. Still get a bit of a lump thinking about it. Where were you lot when it finally happened?

was watching from the couch in Dunedin with the old man, both of us quiet as church mice through the first half, then Beauden went off and we were carrying on like ton of bricks fell on us π back in the day you'd have got long odds on the Canes ever lifting that thing, so it felt like the whole country owed us one finally paid. chills, every time ππ€Been here longer than some have followed.
