From the SFS roar to the Sky Blue heart
i remember watching that 2014 night on the telly here at home, feet up, cuppa going cold, when foley lined up that penalty and the whole of moore park went up like a sky blue bomb 😄 back in the day i used to think aussie rugby crowds were quiet, but that roar carried clean across the tasman. hard not to love a moment like that, even for an old bloke from over the ditch. 😉

✓I was nine, mate. NINE 😭 sitting in our lounge in a Tahs jersey about three sizes too big, Milo going cold on the table same as your cuppa 😂 when Foley lined that kick up I couldn't watch, face buried in the cushion, dad gripping my shoulder... then the whistle, then the roar. THE ROAR. Whole lounge erupted, I ended up on the couch screaming, nearly took the light fitting out, dad just cracking up. You just know some nights are stitched into you forever and that one's mine 💙 Honestly reckon that night is why I never walked away from this club, even living over here where every kid at school was on about the other mob. Didn't care one bit, never have. TAHS FOREVER, sky blue heart til I die 🔥💙💙Heart with the team, head on pause.

lovely thread this. i was in the lounge too that night, mate, mate over the ditch rang me just to yell down the phone 😄 and when foley's kick went over, i thought of the old eden park roars. seen worse nights, few better ones.Been here longer than some have followed.

I could be wrong, but I'd say the 2014 side had a harder edge about them. You always felt they'd find a way to grind out those tight finishes, whereas this lot can look brilliant one week and a bit loose the next. Still, the young forwards coming through give me genuine hope, and that's half the joy of following the Tahs anyway.

The 2014 lot had Foley nailing those kicks, sure - yet how many of those tight finishes only got tight because they'd clock off for twenty minutes mid-match? Brilliant one week, loose the next describes them too, I reckon. The difference is when the whistles went they turned up. Could be wrong, but nostalgia does polish things up a treat 😄 My own memory of that night: I was at a mate's flat, cheap pizza on the table, and when that penalty went over the bloke next door started bashing on the wall, then joined us for the replay five minutes later. Whole building blue. Still get a bit misty thinking about the roar coming through the telly 📊 UnderdogNightmare, your mate yelling down the phone is exactly the sort of detail that makes this thread, love it.Do the math before you argue.

Funny thing is I only ever saw that 2014 finish through my mate's cracked phone screen at a barbecue, half the boys yelling at a barbie smoke not even the telly 😂 Foley stepping back like he had all night, and the whole joint just erupted, blokes I'd never met hugging me like we'd all won it together. That's the bit that stuck with me tbh, one kick and strangers became brothers for the night 🙌🔥 ah well, nowt to do but keep chasing nights like that.You don't abandon your own.

Cracked phone screen or not, you still saw history mate 🤡💸😏
