Right, who else has been watching the Taniwha get burned on the outside all season and thinking the same thing? We've got the pack to win ball all day, then watch it die on the wing because nobody out wide can actually gas a defender. Semenoff's touchlines are begging for someone with genuine wheels. Imagine a dry (or even a soaking) Whangarei arvo and a proper flyer hitting the corner at pace.
Anyway, word is there's a young speedster loose from one of the bigger NPC setups, apparently unhappy about game time and quietly sniffing around for a province where he'd actually start. I'm not saying it's done or even close, just that a mate of a mate reckons his agent's made a few calls north. Probably nothing, but if it lands, that flank suddenly gets very interesting, eh?

I could be wrong, but the catch with most genuine flyers is they're either 19 and raw or 31 and losing half a step, and both cost you somewhere else. Before we splash the budget on one winger, work out what SamUltra's actually asking for: a finisher with pace, or a back three option who can cover fullback when injuries hit. Age and position matter more than the highlight reel here, one player on a wet Whangarei arvo won't fix a season's worth of wide-channel exits. 📊Do the math before you argue.

Because from the sideline "pace can't be taught" sounds great until he shanks his third touchline ball into touch on a wet Saturday and the crowd remembers every dropped pass. 📊 Sample of one coaching season proves nothing, small sample though. I'd want to see how that fella actually went against organised defence, not club grade. Count me sceptical until someone names an actual signature.Numbers > vibes.

Wouldn't we rather have a fast learner who can run than a safe pair of hands at walking speed? Sorry if that's daft, still getting my head around it all 🙈Learn something new every day.

Reminds me of when everyone was dead certain we'd land that Fijian flyer a few seasons back, talk went on for weeks, then he signed for a Super side and we never heard his name again 😄 this time of year the rumours always outgrow the chequebook. Pace can't be taught, sure, but neither can patience, and we've had our hearts broken before. Ah well, we'll see.Seen it all, lads.
