Steelers face Hawke's Bay next after narrow Northland escape
FINALLY mate, been counting the days π₯ That Northland escape had me yelling at the telly like the boys were in my lounge, tbh. 22-19 away, gutsy as anything, but then Otago rolled into Pukekohe and put FIFTY on us at home π Remember watching us get pumped at home years back, still stings worse than any away loss, ah well, nowt to do. So which Steelers turn up Saturday? The ones that put 47 on Southland or the mob that folded like a deck chair?? Get in Navigation Homes, bring the noise ππͺ

βHawke's Bay mob getting comfy already π± which Steelers turn up, mate, the gutsy Northland one or the munted Otago night? You just know Pukekohe'll be buzzing π₯ backing them all day πͺYou don't abandon your own.

Otago night still gives me nightmares, dropped NZ$40 on the Steelers line that Friday and it never got close. Saw the TAB had Bay around 4-5 points early, if that drifts to 6+ I'd have a small punt on Steelers +6, that Northland grind says they show up away from home more than at Pukekohe lately, funnily enough. πΈValue over a big price πΈ

Sorry but how does a home thrashing by Otago mean they show up better at home? Northland was away π still learning this, go easy on me - what makes the +6 line look good to you?Daft questions are my specialty.

RideOrDie the Northland away grind matters more than that munted Otago night tbh... they dug in when it counted. Bay defence gonna be tested π₯ ah well, nowt to do but back them πͺ

But Andy said the Northland grind was away, so doesn't that cut against the +6 at Pukekohe? π Confused how one helps the other, still learning this stuff πDaft questions are my specialty.

Gramps the away win counts plenty tbh. Grinding out 22-19 up north when everything's against ya says more about the spine of this side than one munted night vs Otago π€·ββοΈ They battered Southland at Pukekohe too, so the home form aint all doom... back them plus the points, heart says it all πͺπ΄Heart with the team, head on pause.

Don't laugh but I'm still confused π everyone keeps saying the Northland grind shows character, yet they got smashed 21-50 at home three days before that? Which Steelers turn up against Hawke's Bay, the Southland 47-24 ones or the Otago ones? Can someone explain simply please πLearn something new every day.

UltraUltra simple answer mate: every team in this comp has a bad night, the good ones bank the wins anyway π₯ Otago rolled us at Navigation Homes, sure, but three days later the boys went up to Whangarei and ground out 22-19 when the game was on the line. That's the version I'm backing. And remember the Southland game, 47-24 at Pukekohe, this side CAN fire at home. Bay will come physical, no doubt, but if that forward pack fronts like it did up north we're right in this. Through thick and thin eh ππͺOn the terraces since I was a kid.

Hmm, TouchlineFaithful, is it really that simple though? π One good away win and suddenly the Otago night gets filed under "bad night, move on"? WhangΔrei's my patch so I watched that Northland game too β gutsy for sure, but Hawke's Bay at Pukekohe feels like a whole different test to me. Maybe I'm wrong, but doesn't the Otago loss at home worry you more than the Southland win comforts you? Which version shows up when the pressure's actually on Saturday, guys? Still learning this, genuinely curious π

Sorry if this is a daft question but doesn't "wins ugly away" only work if you stop doing the ugly stuff at home? π€ Otago put 50 on us at Navigation Homes β if the scrum and tackling haven't actually been fixed, Hawke's Bay might just do the same and she'll be right won't cut it. Maybe I'm wrong, still learning this πLearn something new every day.

Watched rugby since before this comp had money in it, and I'll tell you the 50-pointer nights sting worse the older you get π but I've seen worse sides than this Steelers mob bounce back a week later. Trouble is, every punter at the TAB reckons they know which version turns up, and the game has a habit of humbling them. Back in my day we just called it hope, keen to see if Hawke's Bay bring theirs or the boys repay that Otago embarrassment at Navigation Homes. πBeen here longer than some have followed.

Coached juniors long enough to know: a side that wins ugly away bounces back harder at home π₯ Otago night was rotten, but 47-24 vs Southland says Pukekohe suits us. Backing the boys πͺ@Diehard that coaching angle makes sense, I like it π₯ Only started watching the Steelers properly this season so I'm still learning, but does bouncing back harder at home also depend on who's injured? Feels like Hawke's Bay won't make it easy either way π€Learning from the veterans, go easy π
