Counties Manukau
FINALLY a home game worth circling πŸ”₯ that one-point escape up in Whangarei had me yelling at the telly, nearly chucked the remote tbh. Steamer back at Navigation Homes on the 3rd, Hawke's Bay after the cricket score we hung on Southland. Saturday's gonna be Massive πŸ’ͺπŸ™Œ get in!

Sitting in the juniors training down at the park thinking about that Whangarei finish, heart rate still not back to normal 😱 anyone else? Hawke's Bay fans gonna roll into Pukekohe smelling a soft touch after we leaked 50 to Otago, but they forget the Southland game happened too πŸ”₯ defence tightens up at home, watch it. Steamers by a smidge again, my nerves won't survive πŸ’ͺπŸ™Œ
    One love, one side ❀️

  • That Otago 50-burger is still the number worrying me more than anything Hawke's Bay bring. Line's probably Steamers at home around -2.5 and honestly I'd rather take Magpies +3.5 in a multi than touch the head-to-head. That Whangarei escape didn't land for anyone who backed them at the line. πŸ’Έ
The line moves β€” catch it.

  • My heart rate after Whangarei made my smartwatch ask if I'd been mugged 🀣 Magpies rolling in expecting the Otago version of us, gonna be a fun night 🍿

  • Everyone dreaming of the Southland game while quietly forgetting Otago hung 50 on us at home πŸ˜‚ Put your TAB money where your mouth is then, lads.

  • ha, my smartwatch doesn't do heart rates but the old ticker knows the feeling πŸ˜„ seen worse escapes than Whangarei mind you, back in the day one-pointers down at the paddock were how the Steamers kept us faithful entertained. RobbedAgainMerchant has a point about Otago, but a home crowd at Navigation Homes counts for plenty, always has. I'll be there on the 3rd, rain or shine.

  • RobbedAgainMerchant reckons the Otago 50 came out of nowhere, but that's two proper hidings in a row if you count Auckland letting 43 past us up the motorway. Home comfort against Southland's one thing, Hawke's Bay will actually turn up and hit. πŸ˜‚ I'll put my $20 on the TAB with the Magpies getting points, thanks - my heart can't take another Whangarei finish. Fool me once eh. πŸ€‘πŸ’Έ

  • GoTheDistanceOrNothing has it right, mate, Whangarei papered over a few cracks. Seen worse seasons though; back in my day the Steamers could lose 50 and win the next one swinging. πŸ˜„
Been here longer than some have followed.

  • Two wins and two hidings so far, but sure thing mate, 47 on Southland means Hawke's Bay are already beaten apparently 😏 Remind me of your ROI before I lob a fiver on the Steamer at the TAB.

  • I grew up not far from the old paddock days the veterans are remembering, and I'll say this, UnderdogNightmare has it about right. Whangarei was one of those one-pointers that flattered more than it taught, and the Otago evening showed what happens when the middle of the park gets properly belted. Hawke's Bay will front up at Navigation Homes on the 3rd, no question, so I'd hold off on that fiver at the TAB just yet, RobBeliever πŸ˜„ ah well, we'll see.
    Seen it all, lads.

  • The trick with these ones is that you never know which Steamer side turns up, eh. I've sat through plenty of nights at the old ground where we got torched one week and fronted up swinging the next, that Southland score means nothing come the 3rd. Hawke's Bay will bring it, and the one-pointer up north tells you more about luck than form. Turn up to Pukekohe and find out, I reckon πŸ˜‰
Watch as long as I have and you'll get it.

@OldSchoolEst66 spot on mate, that inconsistency is exactly why I've stopped putting Steamers in weekend multis. Got burnt once too often taking them giving a line I thought was safe, then the other version of the side turns up and it never lands. Shorter price on the bounce-back is usually no value anyway, so I'd rather sit these ones out and watch the middle eight minutes after halftime.
    Bankroll discipline wins.
