Counties Manukau back home at Navigation Homes Stadium
FINALLY they're back at Navigation Homes π that Northland grind had me biting my nails the whole way, 22:19 away from home, gritty as anything, you just know that win means more than the scoreline says π
And now Pukekohe on 3 October, under the lights. We put 47 on Southland there, the crowd gets loud and this place becomes a fortress. I'll be there, throat gone by halftime, backing them all day π₯ Hawke's Bay better bring a tank π₯π₯

βHawke's Bay fans already creeping in here π€¬ remember the Otago game? cos I do. Home blowout or nail-biter, our lot never make it easy π₯πͺHeart with the team, head on pause.

Line's Steamer by about 7 at the TAB, hasn't really moved. Given Otago pumped us at Pukekohe, backing a blowout is silly, 1-12 margin band is where the value sits πΊUp one week, down the next. Classic.

My heart says 47:24 again, my liver says after that Otago game hold my pint and don't let me near the TAB ππΏMemes are analysis too.

Sure thing, mate, the TAB knows something we don't π Line's been sitting there doing nothing and everyone still reckons they've found "value" in the 1-12 band. Laughable really. Funny how quick people forgot Otago turning Navigation Homes into a morgue on 17 September. One gritty win in Northland and suddenly the Steamer are back? That away grind says more about Northland being rubbish at closing out games than about us being good. I'd happily torch a lazy NZ$20 on Hawke's Bay if the line stays soft. Sure the 47:24 Southland night was sweet, but that's one decent home showing against a stack of stinkers π€‘πΈ Anyone crowing about a blowout before kickoff is just donating to the bookies. It's a lottery, not sport.

Amy's got a point about the Otago night, I was there and my mate left at halftime shaking his head, back in my day we'd have called that a hiding. Still, that Northland win showed a bit of old school grit, and Hawke's Bay away record or no, Pukekohe on a spring afternoon suits our forwards. I'll take the nail-biter, probably by a converted try; ah well, we'll see πSeen it all, lads.

Gotta love how everyone's a value expert now π Touchline reckons 1-12 is clever while the same crowd were writing eulogies after Otago rolled us 50 on our own patch. One scrappy 22:19 in WhangΔrei and suddenly the Steamer are world beaters again. Blowing Southland off the park was great, sure, but that was 6 September, ancient history mate. I'll have a small punt on the margin purely for the afternoon pint money π€‘πΈShow me your ROI first π

Metric_nerd, I was at that Otago night too and my old knees still ache thinking about it π Back in my day a hiding like that got you named and shamed down the pub, no internet required. But that Northland graft is what gives me a bit of hope, this side never does things the easy way, and Pukekohe on a spring arvo should suit the big fellas. Nail-biter for mine, then a quiet beer to steady the nerves πWatch as long as I have and you'll get it.

@OldSchoolEst66 ha, named and shamed down the pub, my old man talks exactly the same way about hiding days π For real though, that WhangΔrei effort is the one I keep going back to. Conditions were rubbish, Northland were buzzing at home, and our lot never make it easy, but the forwards just dug in. That's the bit of grit I want to see Saturday arvo at Pukekohe. Otago night still gives me nightmares tbh, I left at about the 55th with a mate who couldn't say a word the whole drive home π€¬ If the pack fronts like they did up north, Hawke's Bay away record or not, we're a chance. If they turn up like they did against Otago, I'm leaving at halftime and saving myself the grief π±One love, one side β€οΈ

Mind you, I've seen it all before at Pukekohe, the 47 pasting of Southland, that morgue night against Otago, a gritty 22:19 up in WhangΔrei, all in the same month π back in my day we knew better than to read one result as a prophecy. The young ones here are calling a blowout, the punters are hedging on the 1-12 band, and honestly old school me says Hawke's Bay won't be reading our homework. Spring afternoon in Pukekohe helps, sure - but let's see who turns up hungry on the day, eh πSeen it all, lads.
