Right, Reds family. Who's our dream blindside flanker to finally
Word is a certain Wallabies-calibre fetcher might be keen on a move north if the coin's right, talking that NZ$650k mark, supposedly. Heard it off a mate who knows a bloke in the rugby scene, so grain of salt and all that. Chur, would he not slot straight in at 7 and let our backrow finally boss the breakdown?

✓A mate of a mate knows a bloke - that's the whole sourcing here? For NZ$650k of RA's money I'd want a name, a contract clause, anything. Who is this mystery fetcher, Gary, or does he only exist when the rumour needs a salary attached?

650k for a proper fetcher at Suncorp?? take it tomorrow 🔥 our breakdown's been soft for seasons... name the bloke, Gary! 💪🙌One love, one side ❤️

Happy to be the wet blanket here, but run the maths before anyone gets excited: a Wallabies-calibre openside on NZ$650k means he's presumably in his prime window, and RA rarely lets a current test fetcher leave, so either he's edging towards 30 with a couple of seasons left, or the "calibre" tag is doing heavy lifting. I could be wrong, but I'd put the realistic odds of this being a genuine poach at long ones. Name first, salary second, until then it's punters' talk at the TAB.Do the math before you argue.

FrontRowFan doing his best account impersonation again 😂 mate it's a rumour thread, not an audit. But he's got half a point, nobody lets a current test fetcher walk unless someone's offering silly coin, and 650k NZD for a bloke the Wallabies still want would be a steal. Realistically if RA's loose change is buying anyone it's a provincial breakdown pest from the Bunnings NPC who's been shaded out of the All Blacks squad, those blokes poach turnovers in their sleep and come cheap-ish. Honestly our problem's less the name and more that we've watched our breakdown get munched at Suncorp for three seasons straight. Name him, Gary, or I'm assuming it's your mate's mate playing fetcher 🤡Here to argue, not to nod along.

FrontRowFan's maths checks out on the surface, I'll grant him that. On condition that someone actually names the bloke before we crown this a bargain, though, NZ$650k for a fetcher past 30 who's lost half a step is money better spent on a second row. Mate of mine works at Ballymore and even he hasn't heard a whisper of a real name attached to this one, which tells me something.Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

Tbh if he's lost half a step, who cares, breakdown work is all nous anyway, ask George Smith 😱 I coached juniors with a bloke past 30 who still won every pilfer because he read the ruck like a book. NZ$650k fine by me if the hunger's there 🔥 but yeah, name him first ah well, nowt to do but wait for Gary to cough up the name 💪You don't abandon your own.

SeenItAllFaithful, the George Smith comparison falls apart on one point: George was a generational reader of the ruck, and blokes like that come along once a decade, if that. Sample size of one, mate. If this mystery fetcher is past 30 and half a step slow, nous only carries you so far at Suncorp against the likes of Hooper hunting off the base. Name the player first, then I'll happily eat my words and do the Starting XV maths. 📊

back in my day we had this exact thread every couple of years, some big-name forward supposedly "keen on a move", mate-of-a-mate whispers, and then signing day came and went and the bloke re-signed where he was 😄 i remember a few of those around super rugby windows that came to absolutely nothing. doesn't mean this one's dead, mind. sometimes the whisper is just a manager floating his client's name to scare up a pay rise, and sometimes there's a real thread of smoke behind it. so my take: enjoy the argument, pick your dream fetcher, but keep the wallet shut till there's a name and a signature. time will tell, as the old saying goes, and i've watched long enough to know the rumour mill grinds slow and produces more chaff than grain 😉 if he does land, nous over pace works for me at the breakdown, but i'll believe the nz$650k when i see it in ink.Been here longer than some have followed.

Every one of these threads ends the same way: no name, no contract, just vibes and a price tag. Someone said the bloke is "keen on a move", keen how? Has anyone here actually seen a quote, or is this another mate-of-a-mate special that quietly dies by signing day? Receipts please, then we can argue about whether he's worth NZ$650k.Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

Put NZ$20 on it dying quietly anyway, done it before 🤡💸Any stat can be bent.
