Won't say names out loud, don't want to jinx it, but think breakdown scavenger, think Ballymore familiarity, and you're probably on the same page as me.
If the Reds actually land him, that openside gap gets sorted quick smart and we stop getting bashed at our own ruck. Mate of mine at the TAB already reckons it's more likely than not, and that bloke's line rarely munted, so make of that what you will. Fingers crossed the Kiwi clubs don't get in first, eh.

GloryDays has a point about sourcing, but I'd add the age angle nobody's raised yet: an openside on the wrong side of 30 is a depreciating asset. If this bloke is 28-30, NZ$450k is fair market for one or two good seasons; if he's pushing 32, you're paying peak money for a breakdown body that loses half a step every year, and pilfering is exactly the first thing to go when the legs do. Position logic stacks up though. We've been plugging gaps there all season, and the cap maths work if the young blokes behind him stay on rookie coin. I keep my own little table of these things 📊 and my honest read: rumour plausible, timing tight. Kiwi clubs will move fast once his agent shops him around, so if there's smoke, the club needs to table an offer inside the fortnight or we're having this same thread next pre-season with a different name in it. Could be wrong on the timeline, but I've seen too many of these drift.Do the math before you argue.

Reminds me of the big-name forward we all got excited about a few winters back - talk for weeks, done deal allegedly, and he ended up re-signing without so much as a photo in red. Seen worse rumours die slower though 😄 still, 450k for a proper pilferer would be money well spent if his knees are right.
