From Ballymore nights to Suncorp roars
i remember driving down from Rotorua in the old ute with my brother for that 2011 night at suncorp, and i'll tell you, back in the day we used to watch these games on a cracked telly at the pub when super rugby was barely on the box. that night, 52,000 of us singing when coops and the boys got their hands on the trophy - my voice was gone for a week after 😄 you young lot never saw ballymore half empty on a wednesday night, so trust me, savor the nights like that one. the moral of the story? good things come to those who wait in maroon. keen to hear who else was there 😉

anyone else remember ballymore when the timber stands creaked more than the crowd did? did a work stint up in brisbane in the mid 90s and got along to a night game there, half empty, moths round the floodlights, you could hear every hit like it was in your own lounge. that's my yardstick for the maroon mob, quiet grounds and all. come 2011 i was on the box here in dunedin, alone in the kitchen, and when cooper dropped that goal i yelled loud enough to frighten the cat. good things come to those who wait, eh. you 52,000 got the roar, i got the memory, reckon we both did alright 😉 and that rotorua ute run, now that's proper devotionBeen here longer than some have followed.
