Right, lads, who's our dream Lock to partner the big fella next
Word is that a certain All Black second-rower might be off contract, and the club bar reckon NZ$800k could tempt him north to Auckland. Would be some Lock pairing if it lands, eh? Anyone heard anything more solid or is this just wishful thinking over a few speights?

✓Was this rumour born at the club bar or just refill their glasses? Because "a certain All Blacks second-rower" doing the rounds with no name, no source, nothing — that's the oldest bar talk in the book. Eight hundred k gets quoted like it's facts on a whiteboard, but has anyone actually seen his name next to our salary cap anywhere? I'd love to be wrong here, genuinely, that pairing would sort our lineout overnight. But until someone produces a contract date or a journo with an actual byline, I'm filing this next to the "we're signing a Japanese winger" thread from two seasons back. Receipts please, fellas.Sample first, conclusions after.

Even if it's just bar talk, imagine the big fella with an All Black Lock beside him 😱 800k a bargain, chur, sign him up 🔥💪One love, one side ❤️

My spreadsheet says treat it as bar talk until a name surfaces. Age and the cap both work against it, I could be wrong, but I'd bank on no.Do the math before you argue.

Chris, I've seen your spreadsheet call it wrong before, so I'll take that with a grain of salt 😄 And Fix, no name doesn't kill it - half the decent signings start as bar whispers until someone's manager leaks. I could be wrong, but NZ$800k plus a Lock partner for the big fella is worth at least a bit of digging rather than writing off as Speights talk.Do the math before you argue.

FrontRowFan, funny thing is I heard the same whisper from a bloke in Dunedin weeks back, so it's travelled further than the club bar 😄 back in my day half the big signings started exactly like this. A quiet word over a beer and six months later he's running out at Eden Park. seen worse rumours turn true, hard out.Been here longer than some have followed.

Every punter at my TAB's already chalking this one up as done, funny that 😂 Dunedin whisper plus the bar talk? Someone's manager is definitely working the phones, mark me.It's a lottery, not sport.

Chris is probably right on the cap maths, mind you. Same whisper reached my flatmate's cousin in Rotorua weeks back, so someone's definitely shopping, on condition a name actually surfaces.Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

Coached against a few of these whisper signings over the years and here's my take, half of em never move and the other half cost double the quoted figure 🔥 But 800k for a genuine AB second row to partner the big fella? We'd be mental to not at least try, that pairing wins us the collision area straight up 💪😤One love, one side ❤️

Heard whispers like this more times than I've had hot dinners, lads. Back in the day I remember a big-name signing for us that was "all but done", bloke's manager drank at our club bar for a whole winter and the lad ended up in Japan by March. Half these rumours are just managers testing the water and getting the price up, that's how it works. Still, NZ$800k for a genuine All Black Lock to pack down beside the big fella, well, if the money's real and he wants the lifestyle, stranger things have happened. Seen worse rumours actually land. Ah well, we'll see 😉Seen it all, lads.

That's the rumour equivalent of a mate's hairdresser. Name first, then we can talk cap maths.

Wait, whispers to Rotorua AND Dunedin? That's a proper media release at that point 😂 Show me the name or I'm not getting keen, simples.@Diehard agreed, a name or it's noise. Same source feeding two cities usually means an agent working the market for leverage, that's how these things get inflated before anyone signs anything. If the 800k figure is doing the rounds, I'd want to know who's paying it before getting keen at all.Numbers are honest, takes aren't.
