Right, lads. Who do we want wearing the No. 10 jersey at Forsyth

Right, who actually wants the No. 10 next season? Because I've heard a whisper, and I stress, only a whisper from a mate who knows a bloke - that a certain Crusaders reserve first five is off-contract and hasn't exactly been wined and dined to stay down there. Fill in the gaps yourselves, lads. Imagine him running the show at Forsyth Barr under the lights in blue, gold and maroon. Would fix half our problems in one signature, if the word's even half true. I'd put a cheeky fifty on it at the TAB if they took odds on transfer gossip, which they tragically don't. 😏 So, name your picks then, who's your ten?

A mate who knows a bloke. That's the sourcing now? Show me the numbers, or at least one named name, and I'll listen. I'd happily see a Crusaders reserve running the show at Forsyth Barr on condition that he actually exists and isn't just a rumour Blues fans invented to wind us up.
    Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

  • Nah Robbed, the whisper's enough for me 😱 we've cried out for a proper 10 since Sopoaga left. Imagine him under lights at Forsyth Barr 🔥 get in! Ah well, nowt to do but dream eh
    You don't abandon your own.

  • I keep a running sheet on this stuff and the maths is a bit awkward: a Crusaders reserve 10 is usually mid-to-late twenties with a stack of bench minutes but precious few starts, so his sample size as a game-driver is tiny. Age-wise he'd line up fine, but why would he leave a contender to sit behind a rebuilding pack taking weekly punishment at Forsyth Barr? I'd want at least a full season of starts before calling him the answer to the Sopoaga-shaped hole, eh.
    Numbers > vibes.

  • Nah BootToBall, starts aren't everything with a 10 👀 bloke who's been sitting behind those Crusaders teams has learned the bag work off actual winners, absorbing how they run a game for years. That's worth plenty tbh. And Robbed, mate, we've waited long enough for whispers to become signings - remember how long we carried on without a proper goal kicker? 😩 if he's off-contract and Chrissy isn't paying up, WHY are we not first in line?? Get him to Dunedin under lights and let's see 😤 OUR JERSEY, OUR FORTRESS, COME ON 🔥🔥

  • Touchline, that "learned off winners" line is doing a lot of heavy lifting for a bloke who's watched from the pine. Sitting behind a champion pack teaches you system knowledge, sure, but running your own game at Forsyth Barr is a different exam entirely - one start every three weeks doesn't grade it. I'd want at least a full season of starts somewhere before we hang hopes on him. Small sample though, so I'm open to being wrong.

  • Mind you, I've been down this whisper road a few times since the amateur days. Remember when everyone was dead sure a certain star first five was heading south because "a mate heard it from a bloke at the club"? Signed elsewhere within a fortnight. There was another one too, whole forum thread going, posters booking flights to Dunedin for his "debut". And the poor fella re-signed north before the ink on our dreams had dried 😄 That said, I'd love to be wrong here. We've been crying out for someone to steer the ship since Lima left, and a young fellow who's trained alongside winners might just be the goods. Old Laurie Mains used to say you never pick your team off the training paddock, and you don't pick your ten off a rumour either. Time will tell, eh. 😉
