i was up here in auckland that night, watching it on the telly at my mate's place, and i'll tell you something, when the final whistle went i let out a roar that probably woke half the street 😄 forty-odd years of watching rugby, including every All Black match you can name, and nothing quite like seeing our boys finally lift the thing. back in the day we used to joke the southerners were cursed, and then 2015 happened and shut us all up. funny thing is i nearly hopped on a flight down to Dunedin for it but the wallet said no, and my mate's couch was free anyway. still kick myself a bit - would've loved to hear forsyth barr shake that way in person. anyone here actually inside the ground that night? tell us, don't be shy. 😉

I was at the fortress that night, middle of the south stand, and my voice went completely 😱🔥 21-14, whole ground shaking, still gives me chills tbh 🙌

  • that night i was perched in front of the telly with the grandkids, who at that stage couldn't tell a lineout from a scrum, and by full time they were roaring along with me like they'd been going to games for years 😄 back in the day we used to trudge up to Carisbrook in the freezing southerly and watch some fairly ordinary sides get turned over, so lifting that first title felt like the old ground finally getting its due. chills reading these stories, mates. twenty one fourteen, and my voice was gone till about wednesday the following week. ah well, we'll see if we get another night like that one day 😉

  • Fair question — that 2015 side had a settled spine and a knack for finals rugby, which this current crew is still building. I could be wrong, but there's real promise there.

  • i was in my lounge in whanganui with a wee dram, roared so loud the neighbour's dog started up 😄 had a couple of the young fellas round who'd never seen us win a thing. They never forgot it after that night, chur.

  • Funnily enough I was 13, watching from my mate's lounge in Blenheim while his mum kept telling us to settle down 🤣 like, sorry Karen, first trophy in our entire existence, we're screamin. Still reckon the roof nearly went with it. Chur, best night ever 😂
