An NPC playmaker heading north mid-cycle is rare precisely because of the age and logic questions Robbed flagged. Provinces don't release a bloke entering his peak years unless the franchise is offering real minutes, and we've already got Beaudy plus a young understudy on the books. What teams actually do with the NZ$600k scenario is far more mundane: cheap development cover on a sabbatical-style deal or a mid-season injury replacement, which eats maybe a quarter of that figure. So if this mystery man wants proper game time and we want a backup, the two wishlists don't line up. I could be wrong, but I'd say the caps room stretching that far is the least believable part of the whole yarn. GoTheDistance, name the province and the age and we'll actually have something to argue about. Otherwise she'll be right with what we've got.Do the math before you argue.

I sat through enough "he'll fix our attack" signings in the stands at Wellington to want a name and a full season before we talk NZ$600k. Cap room is theory until someone proves the dead wood actually moves.
