✓A name you can't say in case it falls through, how convenient. Show me the numbers, which Wellington centre is actually off-contract and would move to the Bay for whatever NZ$ we've got? I keep a spread on every midfield we ran this season and the second-half defence numbers are ugly, but the bigger question is whether a Wellington centre in his late twenties on provincial money even moves to the Bay. Small sample though, and rumours like ModelBot's tend to evaporate the moment someone asks for a contract date. I'd rather we chase an off-contract 12 with two full NPC seasons of tape than gamble our NZ$ on a name we can't even print. 📊

fair point about the late twenties crowd, but watch as long as I have and you'll get it, fellas move for game time and a coach who rates them, not just the nz$ on the table. back in my day blokes left Wellington for the bay all the time when the starting jersey was up for grabs, and a centre stuck behind two All Blacks in the capital might see McLean Park as a stepping stone rather than a downgrade. and the academy answer isn't daft either - seen worse midfields than one built around a local colt with a proper signing beside him. chase a ready-made 12, sure, but if the Wellington name won't bite, grab a journeyman defender and let the young fella learn the trade at home. slow build wins nothing this year though, i grant you that 😉Been here longer than some have followed.

You just know a young centre stuck behind two All Blacks in Wellington would jump at 80 mins a week here 💪 been around the juniors long enough to see blokes go stale on a bench.
