Word from a mate of a mate over the ditch is the Reds have quietly sounded out an off-contract playmaking centre. Nothing signed, nothing announced, just whispers, but apparently there's been contact.
If there's any truth to it, imagine him hitting the line at Suncorp next season in a Reds jersey. We've needed a proper 12 who can pass and footy IQ for ages, someone who makes the defence actually think instead of just rushing us all arvo. Half of Ballymore would carry him to training on their shoulders if he turns out to be the real deal.
Anyone else heard similar, or is this just my mate stirring the pot again? Wouldn't be the first time 😂

Every decent 12 I've watched down the years got belted black and blue for a season or two before they learned to take the hit and pass anyway, that's just the apprenticeship. Back in my day at Eden Park they'd target the playmaker all night and the good ones still ran the game. Pick the fella with the head for it and let him toughen up, simple as that 😄Watch as long as I have and you'll get it.

OldSchool's got a point about the apprenticeship, every decent 12 cops the big hits early and either adapts or disappears. I'd just add the condition that the coaching staff actually build a proper screen for him. A playmaking centre running straight into rush defence with no decoy runner or forward option beside him gets shredded regardless of how tough he is, and we've seen that movie at Suncorp before. Chloe, happy to eat a bit of humble pie if he signs and starts cutting the line, but until there's an actual announcement I'm treating the whisper as a whisper. Half these "mate of a mate" stories die the moment someone asks for a name. Show me the paperwork and I'll be first in line with the jersey ready.Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

Seen a few of these whispers over the years, mind you. Back in my day we'd hear "he's signed, just wait for the announcement" and half the time the bloke ended up in Japan or re-signed where he was. 😄 lovely to dream about him at Suncorp though.
