βwatching the rain come down over the paddock here thinking of christchurch nights in the old days, we've copped worse down there π my worry with tate's tap-and-goes is the crusaders backs read them after about two, so he'd best ration them like winter firewood. mcreight as captain? old school choice and i reckon he's earned it. ah well, we'll see.Seen it all, lads.

Put me down for Tate going tap-and-go at least three times before their backs work it out, NZ$5 says he sneaks the fourth one π McReight as captain gets my vote π»Memes are analysis too.

Stoked for this one π₯ I'm taking that NZ$5 bet Ups, Tate will go tap-and-go at least four times and their backs still won't clock on till the fifth π McReight captain all day for me, bloke leads like he tackles, no muckin about πͺYou don't abandon your own.

Blokes putting NZ$5 on Tate's fourth tap-and-go. I'll hold my pint and raise you he forgets the whistle's gone and does it at a penalty too π McReight captain, aye, someone's gotta do the tackling π»Memes are analysis too.

Coached a few lads like Tate at juniors level, first tap-and-go is pure gold, second one gets you metres, third one the whole ground is yelling WATCH THE NINE π take the bet Ups, I'll go one better: he tries a fifth and gets sat on his backside πͺ McReight as skipper though, 100%, hard men make hard calls π₯πIn the stands since I was a kid.

evening all, just catching up after tea. you lot have turned this thread into a bookmaker's window, honest π JohnBlues, six before the midfield clues in? back in my day the nine did one tap-and-go a season and we called him a dasher. tate would've had a heart attack. i'll back McReight for the armband though, and the card risk doesn't scare me - watch as long as i have and you'll get it, the blokes who tackle hardest usually know exactly where the line sits. seen worse skippers do far sillier things. anyway, my XV's still half-formed in the head, might settle it over a pint on friday. who's making the trip up to christchurch proper? always good to have a few of our own in the sheds end making noise. π»Been here longer than some have followed.

The sweepstake's fun but there's a nuance here, Tate's tap-and-go volume depends entirely on how often the Reds earn fast penalties, and Christchurch referees tend to let the defence set first, so I'd temper the six-pick. Small sample though: his output in Australian derbies tells you plenty about the run rate, bugger all about raiding the Crusaders' ruck speed. Uncle's right that McReight makes the tackles, but captaincy goes to whoever the ref actually listens to.

Don't laugh but I had to google what a tap-and-go actually was before reading this thread π now I get why everyone's picking Tate to run amok. FixIsInPTSD, does the ref really decide all that? Feels like the nine should just be quick enough to catch them cold π€Learn something new every day.
