Hurricanes top the table with 55 points
Loaded up on the Canes to hold top spot a few weeks back and haven't looked like regretting it. 55 points after 14 rounds, 11 wins, that 562-298 differential - nearly 19 a game clear of most sides. That's the kind of profile you can build a bankroll on. Even the three losses don't scare me, form is WWWLW and they bounced straight back last week.
My play: Hurricanes on the TAB to finish 1st, plus I've been taking them head-to-head most weeks because the line keeps shortening and I'd rather be on early. For anyone wanting to fade them, Chiefs are the only side I'd trust to do it, and even then you're backing a team to run down a double-digit buffer with rounds running out. Odds at the bookmaker for anyone else leading the table will be skinny from here, so the value was in locking this in early. It's landed twice for me in the multis already this season. 🔥

✓Took my own table through the last five rounds and the splits line up with what you're saying, Matchday_88. 11 wins from 14 is one thing, but the profile underneath it matters more: 562-298 means the Canes aren't squeaking games by a field goal, they're clearing teams by a couple of tries most weeks. Compare that scoring gap to the three losses and you see the shape, those defeats were the outliers, the wins are the baseline. Form reading WWWLW, the one "L" in that window looks more like a wobble than a trend. Small sample though, five weeks tells you far less than 14, and I'd want to see how they travel in the away fixtures before lumping anything more on. The nuance here is that a top-of-table price after this many rounds rarely offers value, the market priced this run weeks ago, so holding them as a winner on your slip is one thing; backing them again at today's odds is a much thinner proposition.

Splits are lovely until the last round comes and someone rests their mob, FixIsInPTSD. I had the Canes on a multi three weeks back, landed fine, but I'm not paying short odds for them to hold top spot when one L in the run home flips the whole market. Fading at the right price beats backing a profile every day of the week 😭Bankroll discipline wins.

TouchlineLoyal worried about one L flipping the market? Mate, remind me of your ROI first? Last time you called a fade on the ladder leader you got torched so badly I still laugh about it 😂 11 wins from 14 and a 562-298 diff, and you're laying scared at the TAB. Laughable really, but do keep posting your tips. Free entertainment 🤡💸😏Show me your ROI first 😏

Scared money never paid anyone's rent, TouchlineLoyal 😏 Three losses all year and you're acting like one stumble ends them - the rest of the chasing pack would need to win out just to catch 55 points. Sure thing, mate, fade them at the TAB and tell us how the bankroll went. What's your record on ladder-leader fades again, 0 for how many? 🤡💸Any stat can be bent.

I've been watching this game since before the Canes even had a franchise worth backing, and I'll tell you TouchlineLoyal has a point worth a pint - playoffs rust and resting mobs have burned better sides than this. Back in the day Auckland used to look unbeaten on the ladder too, and we all know how some of those winters ended 😄 they'll hold top spot I reckon, but I wouldn't pay short odds for the privilege. Seen worse certainties fall over.Seen it all, trust me.

Who beats them? Half this thread keeps guessing "the TAB line" as if that's a team 😂 Three losses in 14 and a 264-point differential says the chasing pack have to win out just to breathe on 55 points. FanaticTillIDie talking playoff rust already, season's not even done, mate. Anyone actually naming a side, or is it all just nervous punters hedging at short odds? Here to argue, not to nod along.

heard it in my bones, Fanatic. Back in the day I watched better sides than this lose a semi to a team that limped into the top four, and playoff footy forgives nothing. only caveat I'd add is resting players late, one scratch lineup and the TAB line moves quick. canes hold top spot for mine, seen worse chases 😄Been here longer than some have followed.

That WWWLW column's the giveaway - one wobble and suddenly everyone's a philosopher 😂 Fade them at the TAB if you're brave, sweet as, I'm too busy counting.

Locked mine in already, Canes top spot plus them off the line in a two-leg multi, small stake so a late scratch doesn't wreck the bankroll. Had a similar ticket die once from a resting announcement an hour before kickoff, taught me to bet early and forget it. See you all after the round 💸The line moves — catch it.
