Super Rugby Pacific
It genuinely surprises me how quickly this Super Rugby Pacific campaign has splintered into these two completely separate narratives regarding survival versus outright dominance. When you look at the top tier, the Hurricanes are in a commanding position with 55 points after 14 rounds, sitting clearly ahead of the Chiefs who, though impressive with their own 51 points, still trail by a clear four-point margin. There’s a real difference in character between the contenders up top and what's happening further down the table. While the Hurricanes and Chiefs are fighting for silverware, the fact that the Blues are marooned with 38 points despite having only recorded four wins is a cautionary tale of inconsistency. Then you look at Moana Pasifika, who have only scraped together 9 points. The gap between the leaders and the bottom feeders is substantial, and the numbers really suggest that if things don't change, the drop is going to be brutal.

Can't lie mate, I've got a torn heart here 😅 grew up in Hamilton so it's the Chiefs all day long, but four points behind the Canes with our form wobbling (that LWWWL run hurts to type) is scary. Still backing them through thick and thin tho, if we sneak that top spot anything can happen in the finals 🔥💪
    You don't abandon your own.

  • Seen plenty of run-ins like this back in my day, Beth. Four points with a few rounds left is nothing, one upset flips it. Hard out on that Chiefs form though.

  • One upset flips it, sure, but the Canes have dropped one game in five. I'd want to see the run-home fixtures before backing the Chiefs on vibes alone.
    Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

  • that four point gap is easily flipped when you have a few rounds left, ah well, we'll see.
    Seen it all, lads.
