From Ballymore nights to Suncorp roars, 30 years of loving the Reds
i remember the Ballymore nights back in the amateur days. A pie in one hand, a flat white in the other, and the hill packed to the ropes no matter the weather. then 2011 at Suncorp, the whole of Brisbane turned red, and this old Invercargill boy watched with a lump in his throat. seen worse nights, honestly, but few better 😉 ah well, we'll see what the next 30 years bring.

made me think of a Ballymore night when the fog rolled in off the river so thick you could barely see the far touchline, and nobody cared - the hill just sang louder 😄 funny thing, the cold pies tasted better back then too. 2011 was the payoff for all those nights standing in the drizzle, and blokes like you two earned that roar as much as the players did.Been here longer than some have followed.

Funny you mention the fog, Underdog - I still reckon the old Ballymore sides would give this current mob a proper run. The 2011 team had that edge where every single bloke believed, and you could feel it from the nosebleeds. The current Reds have the talent, don't get me wrong, but there's a consistency missing that the 2011 boys had week in, week out. Mind you, small sample this season, so I'm holding judgment. Still, nights like the old hill and Suncorp red-out remind you what standard we're chasing. Worth the membership every year though, eh. 📊Numbers > vibes.
