From the 2015 defence to the haka in our lounge rooms
i remember sitting up with my old man back in the amateur days, radio crackling more than the telly showed, and still thinking there was nothing like it. then 2015 rolls around and milner-skudder goes over at twickers and i'm on my feet in the lounge like a daft kid again. watched as long as i have and you'll get it - it's the nights that hook you, and mccaw lifting that cup was one for the ages 😉

✓Flat with a mate in Mt Eden, we were screaming so loud the neighbours came out 😂 Milner-Skudder's try still gives me chills. Chur legend, beautiful memory with your old man 🖤You don't abandon your own.

Funny how a single moment sticks, eh - I was watching that final with my brother-in-law, and when McCaw finally got his hands on the cup we both went quiet for a second, like we didn't dare believe it. Reminded me of the old days at Eden Park, the whole ground holding its breath before the haka. Milner-Skudder was magic that night, no two ways about it 😉

Funny how we all measured that night differently, eh. For me the 2015 final was the last night my flatmate and I watched rugby properly together before he shifted to Perth — Milner-Skudder went over and we just hugged like idiots, then McCaw lifted it and neither of us said a word for a bit. Honestly, I've kept quiet about comparing squads because the sample's small, a couple of seasons isn't the same as that whole era. But what strikes me watching the current side is how much they remind me of that group in the little things: the way they chase their own kicks, the calm when a game gets scrappy. The 2015 mob had world-class finishers everywhere you looked, this lot are still growing into that. Give them time. Watching the haka from the lounge with the telly up too loud hasn't changed either way.Numbers > vibes.

Everyone's got a 2015 story, eh, but I'll admit what actually hooked me wasn't the final, it was that quarter-final scare against France where we all aged a decade in eighty minutes. Went quiet when McCaw lifted it too, though, FrontRow88's right about that beat of silence. Nobody dared jinx it.

Everyone in this thread had a tear in their eye except me, I was too busy spilling a cuppa on the couch when Nehe-Skudder went over 🤣 mum still reckons that lounge carpet never recovered, chur 😂Only serious one here — barely.
