From our first haka at Mt Smart to now
Still get goosebumps thinking about that first night at Mt Smart back in 2022, mate. The drums going, the whole place humming, and those colours on show for the first time. Back in my day we'd pack Eden Park for a Bledisloe night and reckon that was as loud as it got, but that debut crowd gave it a real run. Proud then, prouder now 😄

✓Chills then, chills now tbh 😭🔥 I was up in the corner of Mt Smart with my old man, both of us in the jersey we'd bought that arvo, and when the drums started I swear the whole stand was breathing as one. Grown men around me crying, my old man just grabbed my shoulder and said "look what we built, son". Still get that lump in the throat thinking about it 💪🙌 Been through thick and thin with this club since, but nothing will ever top that first roar. ah well, nowt to do but keep wearing the colours proud 🔥You don't abandon your own.

what got me that night, the young fella beside me. Maybe 10, decked out head to toe in the new strip - singing every word of the haka louder than the drums 😄 back in my day we waited decades for a team to call our own, you lot got handed it straight up. still get a lump in the throat thinking about it aye.Seen it all, lads.

That 2022 side had something you can't buy though. The rawness. Everything was new, the whole crowd was discovering it together, and every hit-up felt like an event. This current team is more settled, more assured, and honestly I reckon the haka hits different now because the boys own it rather than unveil it. I'll admit I still lean to the debut night for pure feeling, but the footy being played lately deserves its own flowers. Small sample though. A couple of good patches don't make an era, so I'll hold my judgement until we've seen a full season of it. Either way, same colours, same pride 📊 ah and Ultra88, that story about the 10-year-old singing louder than the drums, mean, that's exactly why this club exists.

Chur Ultra88, that kid with the haka 🔥 I remember the drums hitting and this whole bay of red just lifting, even the security fellas were clapping along, deadset everyone was in it. My voice was gone by kickoff and I didn't even care. Colours mean everything still 😭🙌Heart with the team, head on pause.

i still remember standing on the concourse at Mt Smart that night with a cuppa going cold in my hand, because i refused to walk inside until the drums finished. been watching footy since the amateur days at Rugby Park down south, and honestly i'd seen plenty of big nights. But nothing like a whole stadium discovering a team together. the young fellas here won't know what that felt like, and that's fine, they'll make their own memories 😄 what stuck with me most was my old neighbour, mate of mine for 30 years, samoan as they come, he had tears tracking down his face during the haka and just said "finally". that's what those colours carry. still proud as anything to see the red out there every season. ah well, we'll see what this year brings 😉Seen it all, lads.

Only bloke at Mt Smart that night who cried before the haka even started was me, and I'd had one quiet beer 😂 drums went through my chest like a bass drop, no regrets 🥹🤣Memes are analysis too.

Word going round there's something brewing with the drums for this season too. You'll all find out soon 🤫Solid source, details in the DMs.
