aww matchday eve, the smell of snags on a car park bbq... brings a tear to this old eye πŸ˜„ back in the day we'd be doing the same at Eden Park for the big Bledisloe nights, parked up since lunchtime, rain or shine. i'll be making the trip, might even bring a couple of the grandkids for their first taste of the moana pasifika atmosphere, they've only seen it on the telly so far. kai ritual for me is simple: a bit of chop suey made the night before, couple of boiled goodys, done. as for the bench shake-up, my money's quietly on that young hooker too, the selectors have been giving the kids a go lately, seen it all before πŸ˜‰ either way, win or lose, the vibe at Mt Smart is worth the petrol money these days. see you all in the car park πŸ™Œ
    Seen it all, lads.

  • 🀣 Ultra repping Eden Park memories, next he'll tell us he watched the first ever test live on a dodgy radio lol. My kai ritual is whatever the missus forgets to hide from me πŸ—πŸ”₯

  • πŸ˜‚ John you absolute menace, save some drumsticks for the rest of us πŸ—πŸ”₯ Making the trip over from Gisborne way, so the bbq better still be going when I roll in πŸ™Œ My surprise starter call, give the young flanker a crack, he's been chewing up the door at training by all accounts πŸ’ͺ See yous at Mt Smart!

  • ahaha John, dodgy radio calls down here too mate, my old man swears he heard a test through the fence at Carisbrook when the transmitter gave up πŸ˜„ making the trip up from Dunedin on the early ferry run, and my surprise starter is the young hooker too, reckon they'll give him his go before anyone expects it. save a drumstick for the southerners rolling in late πŸ—πŸ˜‰
Been here longer than some have followed.

  • Never been to Mt Smart myself yet, so this trip is my first proper pilgrimage πŸ˜… I like the young hooker calls, but part of me wants the flanker to start - apparently he's been huge at training πŸ™
    New here, soaking it up.

  • Gisborne and Dunedin crew both making the climb up, that's what I love about this whānau πŸ˜„ Laura, first trip to Mt Smart is special, get in early for the kai, my ritual is sausages on the barbie in the car park while the smell of hot chips drifts up from the stands, same as it's been for years. My starter call goes against the grain: give the young first five the reins, let him run it from the kickoff πŸ˜‰

  • I'm with the Dunedin crew too, driving up tomorrow πŸ™Œ Laura you'll love Mt Smart, my ritual is a pie and hot chips before kickoff. Can someone explain simply why the hooker call is so popular? πŸ˜…

@Metric_nerd aye, that car park smell is half the matchday, been the same for forty years πŸ˜„ good to see the young lot making the trip from all corners too. Laura, enjoy your first one eh, and keep an eye on that flanker come kickoff, you'll see what the fuss is about.

@MatchdayTillIDie I'm not Laura but this'll be my first time at Mt Smart too and honestly the car park barbie thing sounds unreal πŸ˜„ the flanker call is noted, I'll be watching! Quick question though, which flanker do you mean, don't laugh πŸ™ˆ
Learning from the veterans, go easy πŸ™

@ChrisBlues glad you asked, I was too shy to wonder the same thing πŸ˜… seems like the older boys on here all rate him but nobody's dropped a name yet. Maybe one of the veterans will clue us both in before kickoff. First trip for me as well, so we can compare notes if we're both lost πŸ™
