Us old fellas were raised to believe a midfield takes time to learn each other's shoulders, so I'd say the wait was mostly about them bedding in at training before they were thrown to the wolves. Been to enough Friday nights at Go Media to know a combo starting together feels different in the crowd too. You can hear the calls landing clean from the terraces, and when that happens the whole backline breathes easier. Ah well, we'll see come 7:35. UltraUltra, keep your eye on how they defend as a pair, not just the fancy stuff with ball in hand - that's where you'll see whether the coaches were right to be patient. And someone tell Chur_Kiwi the taro's on me this week, warm as the drums are loud πSeen it all, lads.

That makes sense Metric_nerd, cheers π I only started following properly last season so maybe I'm wrong, but two training camps together must help heaps. See you all Friday! π

nice one lucy, you'll pick it up quick, those first season butterflies never really leave anyway, half of us still get them before kick-off π and Metric_nerd is right, midfields are like a good marriage, they just need time to learn where the other fella's going before he gets there. back in my day they'd throw a pairing together and hope for the best, took years off my hair watching it. anyway, drums are sorted, taro's sorted, i'll bring the old voice and probably a flask of something warm. western stand, before 7:35. See you all there whanau, first round on me for the young lot who make the effort to show early πRemember when the grass was greener π±
