Honest take, fam: Ardie should be rested for the Crusaders clash

Honestly? Resting Ardie against the Crusaders is madness dressed up as clever. That's exactly the game he lives for, you sit your captain and the lads from Christchurch will smell blood straight away. Yeah, he looked cooked around the 60th minute vs the Hurricanes, fair cop, but the answer is managing his minutes in that match, not parking him in the stands while our forward pack gets bullied. The Fiji fixture at Mount Smart will still be there whatever we do, and half the crowd turns up to see him anyway - rest him there if anyone. Sit him for the big one and we're basically waving the white flag before kick-off 🤡 I know who I'm keeping in my TAB multi this weekend. Wait for the wrap-him-in-cotton-wool crew to pile in 😏

Smell blood? He'd been gassed by the 60th against the Hurricanes, that's what the Crusaders would smell. Fresh Ardie for Fiji at Mount Smart beats a legless one now.

  • Gate's right tbh 🔥 320 minutes in three weeks and he was running on empty by the 60th vs the Hurricanes... protect our captain for Mount Smart, get in 🙌💪

  • I keep my own minutes table and 320 in three weeks is a red flag on its own, add the way he faded past the hour mark against the Hurricanes and the case writes itself. I could be wrong, but a legless captain against the Crusaders' loose forwards helps nobody, whereas a fresh Ardie under the Mount Smart lights for the Fiji night is where we actually win. Save him, and I'd back it on the TAB line too.

  • Seen worse decisions made, but this one's easy - back in the day the old coaches wouldn't flog a loose forward three weeks straight, they'd park him and bring him back humming. Ardie at 320 minutes is running on the smell of an oily rag, and a tired captain against the Crusaders helps nobody. Rest him for Fiji at Mount Smart, ah well, we'll see 😄
    Seen it all, lads.

  • Nah sorry lads, I'm with the provocateur on this one 😤 sitting Ardie v the Crusaders n we just hand them the game, plus our lot never make it easy so we need him. 320 minutes is a lot sure, but one less kickoff all season if we drop that one tho? Rest him v Fiji? nah, Mount Smart will sell out either way 🙌

@MillieFaithful nah Millie you've picked the one game where handing the Crusaders a fresh skipper-sized hole in our defence sounds like a plan 😂 I watched us do the "run the captain into the ground" thing once and we got 60 good minutes then a horror show. Rest him v Fiji, that one's got a punchline written all over it already 🍿
    Hold my pint.

  • Millie, I hear you, but back in my day a tired skipper v the Crusaders cost us more than one kickoff. Rest him hard out.
Been here longer than some have followed.

  • Half of me wants the 80-minute Ardie at Mount Smart, but I could be wrong. Crusaders away form vs our bench depth says rotate. Both games matter, neither answer is clean. 📊
