From Mooloo magic to that 2012-13 back-to-back glory
i'll be honest, my first love was the mooloo men. Stood on the terraces at Rugby Park as a lad watching Waikato grind teams down the old way. when the super era came round and the Chiefs were born out of that heartland, well, the move felt natural. the cow bell came with me, in spirit anyway 😄
but 2012 was the night it became for life. sat near the southern stand when Donald slotted that drop goal and the whole place went up, my mate's beer went halfway over the row in front of us and nobody cared a bit. two years of watching Messam charge and Cruden grow into himself, back-to-back glory, and i realised i'd follow this mob through thick and thin. seen worse seasons than this one, mind. so go on legends, when did it grab you?

funny how a drop goal can pin a whole memory to the wall. i was watching that 2012 final on the telly at my brother's place, and when Donald stepped back for that kick i said to him "he'll nail it, back in the day that man practised these till dark." the roar down the phone from my mate who was actually at Waikato Stadium was louder than anything the telly could give me. wife thought the shed had fallen down 😄 been on the ride since the mooloo days too, so when the super team came out of Hamilton it was never a choice really, more like breathing. Messam charging off the base, that whole 2013 crew backing it up... you just knew it was for life. ah well, we'll see what this lot serve up next.Seen it all, lads.
