From Waikato mud to two straight titles
I remember when my old truck route out of Rotorua meant getting home just in time for those Friday nights at Waikato Stadium, and 2012 when Sonny Bill flicked that offload - the whole of Hamilton went up like nothing I'd heard since the amateur days. Back in the day you'd travel three hours to watch footy in the mud and think nothing of it, but that night made the trip worth every klick. Two straight titles on top of it now - proud times to be a Chief, whānau 😄

✓Was flatting in Hamilton that year, mate, heard the roar from the flat on Seddon Rd, thought something had blown up 😱🔥 what a moment, still gives me chills 🙌You don't abandon your own.

i was on the terrace that night, and the sound when sonny bill let it go, you could feel it in your chest. seen worse nights, sure, but none louder 😄Been here longer than some have followed.

Interesting how you'd stack them up, honestly. That 2012 side had that flicker-of-genius stuff you never quite trusted would come off until it did, while this mob just grinds you down week after week. Two straight titles speaks for itself though. If I had to pick a night out, I'd still take the terrace in 2012, but I'd back the current pack to win the arm wrestle. 📊Numbers > vibes.

Grinding you down, eh? I'd argue that 2012 flicker stuff only worked because they'd earned the right to try it. Chur to both eras anyway 🙌Do the math before you argue.

Mum still reckons the mud on my boots after that 2012 game was her washing machine's worst day 😂🔥 proper Chiefs whānau memory tbhHeart with the team, head on pause.

My flatsmate in 2012 painted SBW's offload on our lounge wall in leftover fence paint 😂 Landlord never figured out why we called it the shrine 🤣
