From Waikato Stadium to the world, still bleeding red
i remember hopping in the ute with my brother for that second final, whole of hamilton dressed in yellow and black like a wedding had hit town π the noise when the whistle went still lives in my ears. back in the day you'd wait years between moments like that - two in a row under Rennie was spoiled rotten, and i'd do it all again tomorrow.

βCranium washed in yellow just thinking about it π₯Ή I was a little fella perched in front of the telly in Chrissy, wearing a jersey three sizes too big, absolutely losing the plot when the whistle went. My old man was a big Chiefs man so the whole lounge went up β rang my uncle straight after just to yell down the phone π Hard out that whole run under Rennie felt like the team belonged to us, you know? Everyone in the country wearing the colours that night. Those two titles are why I bleed red, yellow and black to this day π€π Championship nights like that you just don't forget πOn the terraces since I was a kid.

lovely posts there from you two π we had the old radiogram going in the lounge that second final, the whole street spilling out onto the deck afterwards like it was new year's. the young lot never saw hamilton turn yellow like that, streets painted in it, smells like a fever dream now. chur, chiefs whΔnau, those nights don't come round often, eh.Remember when the grass was greener π±

Lovely thread this π₯Ή my old man put NZ$20 on us for that second final at the TAB and somehow talked like he'd scouted the whole squad himself. Folded that ticket into his wallet and reckons it's still there, "too precious to spend". Whole of Hamilton turned yellow, and Dunedin turned yellow for one night too, don't tell anyone ππ€£

ChrisFan that NZ$20 ticket story is gold. My old man was the same breed, reckoned he'd done the homework on every forward pack in the comp when really he just liked the odds. Keen to know if anyone here kept their actual ticket from those final days, bet mine's worth more as a memory than at the TAB window anyway π
