Word is that Chiefs breakdown pest might be off-contract at the end of the season, and apparently there's already murmurs someone over the ditch would happily throw NZ$800k at him. If even half of that's true we should be first in line. Our openside spot has been a rotating door for years. Can't remember the last time we had someone genuinely jackal-hungry wearing sky blue. Someone ring the bloke before the Kiwis wake up 🤡💸

✓"Word is" and "apparently", that's your source? Two weasel words and an NZ$800k figure nobody's actually quoted anywhere. I'll believe the Chiefs are letting a breakdown pest walk when I see it in writing from his agent, until then this is just forum wishful thinking dressed up as a rumour.

Kept my own spreadsheet on openside turnover rates for three seasons now, and the Chiefs have never let a genuine seven walk in their prime, small sample though, four years is nothing in recruitment terms. Depends how you count it, but an off-contract breakdown pest at peak age staying put in Hamilton feels like the far likelier line. NZ$800k would be cheap, which is exactly why I don't believe we'd get him.Numbers > vibes.

Fellas, as a Kiwi poking my head in, nah, the Chiefs DON'T let a quality seven go without a fight, I've watched them choke up contract after contract, ah well, nowt to do 😤 If he somehow does hit the market and you lot only stump up NZ$800k, that's daylight robbery in your favour and I'll be filthy for a month 🔥 Remember when we lost our own fetcher years back and I sulked through a whole club season? I coached juniors against lads who never got a look in because the whole cupboard went to one bloke past his best. If the Tahs genuinely front NZ$800k for a proper seven I'll be shocked, chiefs manage the cap tighter than my old club treasurer 😂 through thick and thin tho, if he stays I'll back him every SaturdayHeart with the team, head on pause.
