From Carisbrook to Forsyth Barr: the roar that never left our blood
been sitting here with my cuppa thinking about the old brook. remember standing on the embankment as a young fella, southerly cutting straight through you, mud halfway up your boots, and you'd still sing your lungs out anyway. house of pain, they called it, and it was ours. then 2015 rolls around and we lift the thing at forsyth barr, in our own town, under a roof no less 😄 i was up in the stands with my old man that night, and when the final whistle went the whole place just went off. grown men crying around me, my old man included, though he'd deny it to this day.
funny how the roar never really changed, just moved up the road a bit. still get chills thinking about it. anyone else there that night? would love to hear where you were standing when it happened.

✓Mud halfway up the boots, that takes me back aye 😅 I was at Forsyth Barr the night we won it in 2015, up in the corner with my old man, and when that final whistle went I swear the whole ground lifted off the planet 🔥🥂 hugged a complete stranger next to me, still catch up for a beer now. My old man cried, first time I ever seen it, never let him forget it 😂 Chills every single time I think of it. Through thick and thin eh, that night made it all worth it 🙌 ah well, nowt to doYou don't abandon your own.

Chur for that memory. I was down at the Brook in the 90s when the fog rolled in so thick you couldn't see the far touchline. Half the crowd roaring at nothing 😄 that 2015 night felt like all those years finally paid off.Watch as long as I have and you'll get it.

That 2015 side had something this lot are still growing into, I reckon. Every one of those forwards played like the scoreboard was a personal insult, and the backs finished like they'd rehearsed it in the fog. This current mob have the bones of it — decent youngsters, some real heart in the tough patches - but they're a few seasons of scar tissue away from that sort of complete outfit. Still, I'd rather watch them grind through the rebuild than sit around moaning. The 2015 lads taught us what it looks like when it all clicks at home, so when the next one comes, we'll know the sound. Cheers for the memories in this thread, fellas 📊 bit of me still up in that corner seat with a stranger I hugged.Numbers > vibes.

Still remember my old man ringing me after the whistle that night, could barely hear him over the noise down there 😂 I'd put the tally on, he'd gone to every home game that season, and you just knew the whole city was going to be up all hours. What a result for the south honestly, years of being written off and then we do it at HOME ground, in front of our own. Never made it easy on us, that lot never do, but chills every time I think of it 🙌🔥 ah well, nowt to do but keep hoping for another one like it.On the terraces since I was a kid.

My old flatmates' union jacket still smells faintly of that night, I swear 😄 they earned every bit of it. No luck, just southern grit. ah well, we'll see if we get another one like it.Seen it all, lads.

Honestly I only caught the tail end of that 2015 run on telly, wish I'd been old enough to be there 😅 Everyone in here makes it sound like the whole South Island lost its mind that night. Do you reckon this current crop is actually a couple of seasons off something similar, or is that just hopeful thinking? 🤔Daft questions are my specialty.

@RideOrDie_247 nah mate we genuinely did lose it, I was up in Dunedin that night and the whole city was a yell 😂 as for this current crop, you just know the tight five is nearly there... give them another pre-season and watch them go 💪One love, one side ❤️

"Southern grit". Source on that, or just fond memory? Nice story regardless, Chur. Losing a jacket to the fog is peak Carisbrook.

Whole South Island lost its mind? Mate, I lost a $50 TAB multi and still reckon it was worth it 😂 Offside, you want a source for grit, watch the last ten minutes again.Any stat can be bent.
