Evening whanau!! πŸ™Œ Big derby week and I'm already buzzing, seen the fixture and got goosebumps like it was 2012 all over again πŸ”₯ Which of you lot is making the trip up to Hamilton? I'm driving over Friday so shout if anyone needs a ride, and I'll get the first round of $8 pints in after the whistle 🍻πŸ’ͺ

Goosebumps in 2012 aye, that takes me back. I was in the old stand for a few of those nights, we'd sing till the voice went and nobody cared πŸ˜„ I'm making the trip across from Auckland, been meaning to get to Waikato Stadium all season and derby week's the excuse I needed. Driving up with a couple of workmates Friday arvo, couple of us old boys in the back rattling on about how it used to be while they roll their eyes. As for the sausages, I'll shout a tray if someone else sorts the bread and onions - fair trade I reckon. And keep a seat at the pub after, I'm good for the first round of the $8 pints if the footy goes our way. See you mob there 🍻

  • Auckland making the trip?? πŸ˜‚ hope you brought a jacket mate, Hamilton weather doesn't do favours. I'll bring the sausages but someone else is shouting those $8 pints 🍺🀣
Only serious one here β€” barely.

  • Aye Hamilton weather's a mission even for us locals πŸ˜‚ DMac takes the tee easy, he runs everything else anyway! πŸ‚πŸ”₯ Who's shouting then, OldSchool?

  • ha, mate I've watched the derby nights at Eden Park since the amateur days and let me tell you, Hamilton in June is a whole different beast, take the jacket πŸ˜„ reckon DMac should keep the tee honestly, seen him kick v-run himself into the mud one too many times. I'll shout the first round if someone gets the sausages right, fair's fair.
    Seen it all, trust me.

  • Agree with Fanatic about DMac keeping the tee, seen him try to do everything himself and it costs us when the legs get tired πŸ˜… My only worry is if it's wet he rushes them, he's done that before. Going easy on me if this is a daft take, first derby for me actually, coming over from Palmy πŸ™

  • ha, another young fella making the pilgrimage, welcome aboard Laura πŸ™Œ palmy to hamilton is a decent haul but the whanau will look after you, first round's sorted one way or another. on the tee, from what i've seen over the years: back in my day we'd have given the boot to the fullback and told the flyhalf to run, but the modern game's different. the thing with damo in the wet, he doesn't rush them when he slows his own heartbeat down. Watch his little routine, he's fine when he breathes before the kick. the trouble comes when the crowd's up and he's straight off a run, legs still humming. if he takes that extra second at waikato he'll be sweet, and mate i've seen worse nights there than any forecast they'll throw at us πŸ˜„

@UnderdogNightmare so if everyone brings jackets and claims sausages what do I bring as the new guy? πŸ˜… don't laugh but I've never done a proper matchday trip before, usually just watch from home in Napier. keen to finally see it live πŸ™Œ
