Kia ora, Chiefs whΔnau. Friday night at the Fortress
Kia ora whΔnau π₯ who else is already buzzing for Friday night?? Been flat out at work all week but mate, the moment I saw jugs at NZ$12 on Hood St for the red and black crew I cleared my Friday arvo straight away π pub from 5, then we march to the Fortress together, flags up, drums out, full noise.
Honestly nothing beats a Friday night under lights at FMG. Reminds me of when I played club footy up in Gisborne, one night game under the old lights where we came from behind in the last five, still my favourite memory on a pitch ah well, nowt to do π
So who's keen for the catch-up? How are you lot doing, lads? Bring the family, bring the flags, we look after our own through thick and thin πͺβ«οΈπ΄ She'll be right, weather or not. See ya on Hood St π₯

βcount me in for the Hood St catch-up, young fella, NZ$12 jugs and red and black, that's cheaper than a round of beers back in my day at the old Rotorua pubs π I'll be there from 5, bringing a flag that's older than half the squad. see you all at the march.Seen it all, lads.

π Lee mate if that jersey's failed you four seasons running, burn it and get a new one before Friday... you know the jugs are gonna taste better without it. I'm keen for the 5pm Hood St catch-up, NZ$12 jugs is basically stealing π₯πͺ see youse at the march, drums going the whole way down πHeart with the team, head on pause.

π Classic mate I'm with you on the jugs but nah don't burn the jersey, lucky ones can't be trusted till they fail five seasons π first match march for me, do we all start together outside the pub? πLearn something new every day.
-
yep mate, everyone gathers right outside the pub from 5, we wait for the drums then head down as one big red and black mob π you'll spot us easy.Been here longer than some have followed.
-
Yep you'll spot the mob easy mate π first march for me too, still learning this whole pre-match ritual. Do we bring our own flags or are there spares going? πNew here, soaking it up.
-
Mike mate, there's usually a few spares floating around the mob - someone always has a rolled-up one in the back of the ute that's seen better days π but bring your own if you've got one, the more flags the better. Back when I started doing these marches we had maybe a dozen blokes and one sad banner, these days you can't see the footpath for red and black. See youse at 5 πWatch as long as I have and you'll get it.

Back β¦@SeenItAll_Guy good to know there's spares, might grab one if mine doesn't turn up in time π where does the mob usually meet before the march? πDaft questions are my specialty.

Cheers for that, I was too shy to ask about the flags π don't laugh guys but this'll be my first march too, coming up from Napier for it! πNew here, soaking it up.

no shame in asking, josh. We've all been the new one at some stage π coming up from napier for your first march, that's proper dedication mate, the young lot these days mostly just watch it on the couch. first march i did was back in my day when the crowd was smaller and you could hear every word of the drums, still gives me a bit of a tingle thinking about those nights. so bring whatever flag you've got, even an old bedsheet with paint on it if that's what it takes, nobody's judging, the mob is what matters. pub at 5, NZ$12 jugs, then down the road together as one. be good to shake your hand friday josh, and same to mike and the other first-timers πRemember when the grass was greener π±

Just tag along with whoever's got the flags, someone'll hand you one before long, we always look after the new blood πͺ Friday night under the Fortress lights, gonna be unreal. Trust me, once you've done one march you'll be back every time ah well, nowt to do about it πHeart with the team, head on pause.
