Two straight losses and now Taranaki at McLean Park on 27 September
Two losses on the spin has me wary, but Taranaki at McLean Park smells like a get-right game for the Magpies. Home crowd, desperate side, that usually flips a line. I'm on Hawke's Bay straight up at the sportsbook and a small NZ$20 punt on them covering, that's my lot. Bay of Plenty thumping us by 15 still stings, mind. 🔥

✓That 32 points conceded in the Bay of Plenty game worries me more than it worries you two. Leaning Taranaki straight up at the TAB, small NZ$20 too. Hope I'm wrong 💸Bankroll discipline wins.

TouchlineUltra, I'll half-agree with you. The Bay of Plenty loss worries me more than the Harbour one, conceding 32 after holding Otago to 24 is a genuine defensive slide, and that's a trend, not a blip. Small sample though: three matches tells us little, and home form at McLean Park (the Otago win) is the one positive data point. I'm leaning Hawke's Bay straight up, but I'd keep the stake modest rather than pile on the line.

Bold call from the bloke whose last "sure thing" paid for my lunch 😂 I'm with TouchlineLoyal, that defence leaks too much. Taranaki at McLean Park, my NZ$20 says you're wrong again 🤡💸It's a lottery, not sport.

AmyBlues, hold the clown emoji a moment, there's a nuance here that two losses in the table hide. Look at venue splits: both wins and the Harbour loss were tight-ish at McLean Park, while the 32 conceded came away in Rotorua, so the defensive slide may be partly a travel thing rather than structural. Small sample though, granted. My line of thought says home soil is where the Magpies' sample is genuinely better, so I'll take Hawke's Bay straight up, no cover, NZ$20 only.Numbers > vibes.

Amy cooking you lot and BadBeat's travel excuse is thin tbh, Harbour loss was AT McLean Park too 🔥 NZ$20 on the Bay bouncing back, wrong'uns gonna eat that ah well, nowt to do 🤷You don't abandon your own.

SeenItAll has a point about Harbour, but context matters: that was a seven-point loss where the Magpies scored 24, while Rotorua was a fifteen-point blowout with only 17 on the board. Two different failure modes, and only one of them (attack stalling away from home) looks like a travel pattern. I could be wrong, but if the defence holds anywhere near its McLean Park level from the Otago game, Taranaki won't outscore 24 at Napier, lean Hawke's Bay, modest stake. 📊Do the math before you argue.

Taranaki at McLean Park on the 27th, we bounce back, you just know it 😤 that Rotorua stink was travel legs plain as day, and Harbour we only coughed up 24 in a tight one 🔥 chucking NZ$20 on the Bay, take Amy's lunch money off her ah well, nowt to do 🍷

FrontRowFan's split is right, but the kicker for me is the turnaround: seven days between Rotorua and a home fixture. Short week, Taranaki travelling, I could be wrong but I'm leaning Bay by a try.Do the math before you argue.

Short week helping Taranaki? Nah mate, travelling sides usually love a tired opponent 😅 still reckon the Bay sneak it, my NZ$20 says so 🔥Heart with the team, head on pause.

Whoever's scared of the short week should check how the Magpies finished that Otago game, 35:24 at McLean Park suggests they go up a gear in front of the Napier crowd. Taranaki's biggest risk is conceding momentum early, and I'd back the Bay to hit the ground running at home. My line is roughly Bay by 6-8, and I could be wrong on the margin but not the direction. 📊

tbh that 17:32 in Rotorua has me spooked more than anyone here 😱 Bay of Plenty ran through us like we weren't there, and suddenly everyone's forgetting it coz Harbour was close??nah. Still, Taranaki at McLean Park on the 27th, home crowd yelling, I reckon the boys front up. My NZ$20 says Bay by a bit 🔥In the stands since I was a kid.
