Time to sign a proper goal-kicking first five
14 points left on the park last season and we're all still pretending it's fine π€‘ Word is there's already been a quiet look at a goal-kicking first five with Super Pacific experience - half-hints from people who'd know, nothing signed, so take it as gossip for now. But imagine that same season with half those shots sticking. That's a home semi conversation, not a bottom-half scrap.
And in reality? Until someone actually puts pen to paper I'll keep my NZ$ off it. Who's your dream pick then, gents, a journeyman kicker who never misses, or another flashy runner who shanks it from 30 out? π

βHalf-hints from people who'd know? That's the flimsiest sourcing I've heard since the last transfer silly season. Source on that, or are we just doing vibes-based recruitment now? I'll believe a goal-kicking first five when the club actually announces one, until then it's gossip with a clown emoji attached.

Forget the sourcing drama, just look at the table π± 14 points!! we'd have been right in the playoff mix if half those shots stuck πͺ a proper goal-kicking 10 also takes the pressure off the boys running the backline, everyone plays looser π₯ dream pick for me is whoever's got Super Pacific minutes and a boot you can trust in cyclone wind tbh πIn the stands since I was a kid.

Worth remembering the sample here is tiny, 14 points across a whole season is maybe four or five shots, and one of those could've been from the sideline anyway. I'd also want the age profile of whoever they're eyeing before getting excited; a 10 with solid Super Pacific minutes tends to command serious NZ$ and we've been burned chasing names before. Half those kicks sticking probably moves us a place or two on the table, playoff mix might be a stretch mate, but a reliable boot does settle the whole backline. π

FixIsInPTSD has a point about the sample size, though I'd add that even two or three misses at crucial moments can swing a close game completely. Mind you, I watched enough of last season from the lounge with the TV muted in frustration to know the kicking mattered more than raw numbers suggest. So yes to a proper 10 with a boot, on condition that he can actually run a backline too, not just tee it up.Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

Heard the same quiet whispers a couple seasons back about a kicking 10 coming, never landed. Seen this movie before π time will tell.Watch as long as I have and you'll get it.
