FINALLY the big one is nearly here 🔥 40 put on Auckland in their own backyard, a gritty 27:25 over Taranaki at the Arena... and now Canterbury on 3 October. Turbos, who's in?? I'm already buzzing 💪🙌

Canterbury fans quiet all of a sudden 👀 40 on Auckland up the motorway, now they gotta come to the Arena. I'm keen, you just know we're gonna send 'em home sore 🔥
    One love, one side ❤️

  • Anyone got the TAB line yet? Auckland win already taught me a lesson. Backed the wrong side and copped it 😭 might throw NZ$20 on the Turbos early before the number moves.

  • Canterbury rolling into town after we hung 40 on Auckland feels like bringing a pie-eating champ to watch me finish the family kai 🫡🤣 I'll hold nobody's pint till halftime though, nerves are real lol

  • Beat Waikato by nine then turnaround and hang 40 on Auckland a fortnight later, that alone tells you they're genuine 😏 get in before the TAB moves, lads.
Here to argue, not to nod along.

  • seen that GoTheDistance comment, small correction mate, Waikato beat *us* 36:27 mid September 😉 but otherwise he's dead right, beating Waikato even closely travelling week-to-week and putting forty on Auckland says plenty about this mob. I've been watching provincial footy since the amateurs and i can tell you canterbury sides never die quietly - but Diehard's onto something, winters were made for saturday games at central energy trust arena. i recall bledisloe nights at eden park where everyone wrote us off, so caution suits me fine. even the waikato loss showed some spine, kept punching anyway. see you there on october third.😊
Been here longer than some have followed.

  • They put 27 past Taranaki by just two at home, mate, so Canterbury at the Arena? I'd want more than one decent half before touching that line 😏💸

  • RobbedAgainMerchant has a point about that Taranaki scrap, two points at home against a side you'd expect to handle more comfortably - I've seen worse title runs built on shakier foundations though 😄 back in my day at Eden Park nobody gave the underdogs a show either, and look how those nights went. I'll be at the Arena on the 3rd, no TAB flutter for me, just want to see if this mob turns up for the big one like they did in Auckland.

  • RobbedAgainMerchant, one sloppy half against Taranaki and suddenly you're a defensive analyst 😂 they got rolled in Waikato then walked into Auckland and hung 40 on them, that's the form line I'm reading. Keen to see what the TAB does with that 3 October line once the fanboys pile in 😏
    Any stat can be bent.

  • Funny how a couple of good weeks can turn the whole country into experts, eh. I was at the Taranaki game, shivered through that second half thinking we'd let it slip, so I'll admit the two-point margin had me muttering on the drive home too. But OldSchoolEst66 has it about right - I've seen worse runs turn into something real, and forty on Auckland in their own patch is no fluke, that takes proper forwards and a bit of nerve. My caveat is the same one I've carried since the amateur days: October footy up there with the wind off the ranges is a different animal, and Canterbury have been quietly putting things together while everyone's been looking at Turbos highlights. They don't get flustered, never have. I'll be there anyway, rug and thermos packed, ah well, we'll see. 😉
    Seen it all, lads.

  • Metric_nerd, you drove home muttering - meanwhile I nearly cried when the Turbos put 40 on Auckland away 😂 Canterbury at the Arena is where dreams meet reality 💸

  • Metric_nerd, I was at that Taranaki night too and felt the same chill in the second half, old mate next to me reckoned we'd seen it all before 😄 my two bob's worth: those away wins down in Mount country and up at Eden Park showed real spine, but Canterbury coming to the Arena is the day the truth gets told. Watch as long as I have and you'll learn to enjoy the ride before the verdict.

  • seen this movie a few times now — back in my day some country mob would put 40 on auckland one saturday and half the town had them winning the comp by sunday. then canterbury would roll in quiet as church mice and win by plenty. expectations are slippery things, always have been. i'll be at the arena on the 3rd to find out which story this really is 😉
