Ten years on and I still get goosebumps remembering that first night
i remember that night like it was yesterday, hard out. flew over from rotorua for the debut, blew a decent chunk of my annual leave on it and never regretted a cent. 30,000 of us crammed into nib and the Sea of Blue never sat down once, my throat went by halftime and i was still roaring in the 80th.
back in the day you'd wait decades for a new side to get that sort of welcome. the young ones on here won't know what it was like when super rugby only came to us through a telly in the pub 😉 but that first Brumbies night, everyone just knew we'd built something. ten years gone and i still get the goosebumps. who else made the pilgrimage over that time?

✓Flew over from Gisborne for that one 😂 voice gone by the 20th minute, Sea of Blue was unreal. My old man still talks about it too 🔥🙌You don't abandon your own.

watched from the couch in Dunedin that night and even through the telly you could hear the roar, so i can only imagine what it was like in the stands 😄 reminds me of the old bledisloe nights at eden park, that same full-ground hum. funny what a decade does, still get chills thinking about it 😉Been here longer than some have followed.

Good on ya Ultra88 for making the trip from Rotorua, that's proper commitment 😄 I was there too, section near the western stand, and my voice cracked for two days after. Comparing that first side with the current mob, honestly, the 2007 lot had that raw new-club fire, everything felt like a statement, and the crowd carried them half the time. This year's team actually reads the game better, smarter at the breakdown, but they don't quite have that same underdog chip. Different kinds of teams, and both worth cheering for. Yeah nah, still reckon the debut night wins on atmosphere alone 🙌Numbers > vibes.

That level of energy must have been intense, eh. If I was there, I reckon the odds for any first try would have been absolutely hammered by half time. Makes me wonder what the ROI would have been on predicting the result that night.Bankroll discipline wins.
