Word is doing the rounds that a certain Chiefs second-rower might be off-contract come the end of the season, and I've seen a whisper he'd be had for under NZ$600k. Not saying I believe everything I read on a RugbyForum thread at midnight, but if that bloke lands in red and black next to Whitelock's heir, I'm putting the house on us lifting the thing again. Well, maybe not the house, I've learnt my lesson with multis at the TAB 😅
Still, imagine it. That lineout presence, that engine, and at that price? Bargain of the decade by anyone's measure. Fire up the fanboys 😏

The last three times this forum ran with a rumour like that, the player re-signed, stayed put, or turned out to be someone entirely different by the time the story got through four handshakes. And under NZ$600k for a starting-quality Lock in the current market? Any punter putting money on that at the TAB would want their head read. If he's genuinely off-contract, every franchise in the country plus a couple overseas are circling, and that price moves fast. I'll believe it when the signing's on the Crusaders site with a photo and a quote, and not a minute before.

Under NZ$600k for a starting-quality second-rower? That's below what the market would call fair value, which usually means one of the details in the rumour is wrong. So treat it as a dream for now. If he does come off-contract, the salary cap squeezing everyone this cycle might genuinely loosen a few hands, so it's not impossible, just unlikely. FixIsIn, mate, I remember blokes who looked ordinary for two seasons then clicked overnight - back in the amateur days we called that learning the trade. One year of tape told me plenty about some very good locks down the years, and the good judge watches the feet and the work rate, not the sample size 😉 if the price really is under NZ$600k, you roll the dice every time.Watch as long as I have and you'll get it.

Honestly the tank is what sells me 🔥 saw him graft 80 mins in the heat down at Trafalgar Park a couple seasons back and never stopped working, that's the tape that matters tbh. @Faithful_Zone yeah nah I rate the tank too but one hot afternoon in Nelson and suddenly we're all doing the agent's job for him 🤣 me, I once believed a whisper about a Hurricanes Lock "signed for the Crusaders" and ended up with nothing but a custom jersey with a bloke who never arrived.
