Word is a certain ex-Chiefs playmaker with Fijian roots is back in the country and, wait for it, uncontracted. Wouldn't name names on an open forum but you lot know exactly who I mean - bloke who could slot a drop goal from the carpark when he feels like it.
Imagine him pulling the strings at Churchill Park for under NZ$80k. That's daylight robbery territory, frankly. Obviously could be nothing, paper talk and all that, but if there's even a smoke to this fire, the club should be on the phone before someone else rings first. Age would be my only worry — a 10 in his mid-thirties needs careful minutes management. Small sample though, but the maths work at NZ$80k. Worth the call.

FixIsIn, your minutes-management point is the one that actually matters here, a 35-year-old 10 won't survive eighty minutes week after week in this comp, so the deal only works if we've got a genuine second playmaker behind him. I'd add a caveat: at NZ$80k you're gambling he stays fit, and if his hamstrings have gone the way most mid-thirties legs do, that salary becomes dead money. Worth the call, sure, but I want to see a medical before anyone starts printing the jersey.Hype isn't an argument.

no need to panic, boot to ball, we've signed journeymen off worse whispers than a TAB punter's tip. back in the day clubs picked up old heads mid-january and they did a tidy job for a season. for NZ$80k, if his hammy goes in round three we've lost pocket money, seen worse blows. ah well, we'll see 😄Seen it all, lads.
