Right, lads. Time we pinch a proper fetch dog
Word from my mates over the ditch is a certain Wallaby fringe seven might be off-contract, and for under NZ$400k he'd be seriously keen value at GIO Stadium. Imagine that jackal threat in Hooper's old jersey, loosies sorted for years. Nothing signed yet, mind, so don't quote me, but worth daydreaming about lads 😏

✓A bloke whose mates are apparently better connected than every journo in the country - where do I sign? I'd put my TAB multi money on this rumour being half invented. Name the player, name the source, or it's just a nicely rounded sub-NZ$400k figure doing the rounds because it sounds plausible. I'm happy to be proven wrong, on condition that someone actually shows me the numbers: contract status, what he actually jackals per 80, injury record. Fringe Wallaby sevens don't grow on trees at that price, and if he was genuinely off-contract and cheap, I'd want to know why no other province has already snapped him up. Until then I'll file this under "sounds good but".Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

Be careful with this one Robbed, you'll jinx it 🤬 but mate, imagine a proper jackal tearing in at every breakdown while we've been starved of that since Hooper left 🔥 Our ruck speed goes up ten notches, hard out. Under NZ$400k for a fetch dog like that? Pay the man and let's dream 🙌Heart with the team, head on pause.

I keep a running sheet on openside minutes and ages across the comp, and this is where I'd pump the brakes a touch. A fringe Wallaby seven in his mid-to-late twenties going for under NZ$400k usually means one of three things: he's coming off an injury, he's stuck behind a locked-in starter, or the club simply rates him lower than we do. Two of those three are fine gambles at that price, but the injury one is where transfers like this quietly die at round six. Robbed's right that the tidy round figure smells like a forum number - the real test is whether any Australian outlet has even a sniff of it. And context matters: if the bloke's fringe at Test level, would he actually cross the Tasman for a derby-heavy schedule where our own young loosie depth gets starved of minutes? That's the bit nobody's pricing in. I could be wrong, but I'd rather we chase a proven 30-plus jackal on a one-year deal than gamble the cap on a rumour with no name attached.Do the math before you argue.

Robbed mate I get the scepticism but under NZ$400k for a real fetch dog?? our lot never make it easy, so if a fringe seven wants out and the deal's that cheap, you pay the man and ask questions later 🔥 breakovers been killing us for years, surely worth a punt even if the rumour's only half true 🙌Heart with the team, head on pause.

Funny how this rumour gets cheaper every time it's retold, first it was a mystery seven, now he's somehow under NZ$400k and desperate to move. That price tag is doing a lot of heavy lifting, honestly. FrontRowFan's sheet makes the point for me: a fringe Wallaby at that money means someone else's medical staff has seen something we haven't, or he's firmly third in someone's pecking order. And Robbed's right, nobody's named him, which tells you plenty. That said, I'll nibble the bait a little. Our breakdown numbers have been ordinary for years, so if the club's due diligence stacks up and the knees check out, even a stopgap jackal beats what we've been carrying. Just temper the dreams, bro. Sub-NZ$400k fetch dogs are usually cheap for a reason, and we've been burnt by bargain forwards before. Name the player and I'll happily update my table. 📊Numbers > vibes.

funny how a bloke who's watched a few decades of these "bargain" rumours sees the price tag doing the heavy lifting too. back in the day we got told the same about a certain five-eighth, cheap as chips till he landed here crook and never played a full season. seen worse, mind you, but i'd want to know why he's cheap before paying anything. ah well, we'll see 😉Seen it all, lads.

@Metric_nerd mate you've triggered something in me 😅 we got told the same story when I was playing club footy. Some "bargain" back was supposedly ours for buttons, everyone at the club talking like the deal was done, then he turns up crook and plays about four games all season. Cheap as chips till you're carrying him off the park for free 💀 That's why I side-eye any price tag doing the heavy lifting tbh. If he's that cheap, ask why nobody else wanted him. Our lot never make it easy, but I'd rather pay a bit more and actually get a dog who pilfers week in week out than save the club NZ$100k and roll him out in a moon boot 🤬 Give me the bloke who earns his cash over the bargain bin every dayOne love, one side ❤️

ha, Metric_nerd's five-eighth story took me straight back, we had a "done deal" fetch dog years ago, signed photo in the club newsletter and everything, next minute he re-signed across the ditch. watch as long as I have and you'll get it: until the contract's on the paper and the boy's at GIO in the jersey, it's just pub talk 😄 time will tell.Been here longer than some have followed.

Signed photo in the newsletter 🤣 imagine shelling out NZ$400k and getting a framed fridge calendar instead. I'll believe it when he's doing pilfers in the flesh.@Lee_Fan 😂 fridge calendar, that's gold. I put NZ$10 on this deal happening at all, would love the TAB to offer that market. Actually nah, I'd probably lay it. 😏Any stat can be bent.
