FINALLY the Otago away day is nearly here π€π₯ that Manawatu loss still stings but we bounced off Tasman away and we can do it again down south. who's in?? backing them all day, Carisbrook or wherever they put us π€π LETS GO

βNelson here, so yeah... I was in the crowd at Trafalgar Park when you lot squeaked past Tasman by two π and I watched that Manawatu shellacking from the couch like π€¬ 40 points at WESTERN SPRINGS?? At home?! Anyway keep dreaming about Dunedin lads. Down south, 1 October, Otago at home... you reckon they'll roll over after copping that Taranaki loss their own way? Brave punter who puts Auckland in a multi that week, tbh. Through thick and thin is easy at home, let's see who's still singing down there π±π₯One love, one side β€οΈ

Nelson mate, I was sweating that Tasman game too. Took Auckland on the line there and it landed by the skin of their teeth. Learned my lesson, took the money and didn't chase it against Manawatu. Good thing, because 40 at Western Springs would've torched the whole multi. π Anyway, Otago away 1 October: TAB will likely open them narrow favourites or close to level, and honestly I'd want to see the line before touching it. These are the fixtures where the number moves fast - if it opens Auckland -2 or so, that's still no value to me after shipping 34:40 at home. Away form's been patchy all month: beat Tasman by two, got rolled by Taranaki. The odd try scorer and the line together is the only play I'd consider, and only if the market sleeps on Otago. Waiting on that number. πΈUp one week, down the next. Classic.

π€£ me trying to picture Auckland's defence at Manawatu: a warehouse full of boxes and someone yelled "everyone grab a cuppa, quick" and walked off. Anyway I'm in for the Otago trip if work gives me the day off, my boss said no so I'm blaming 40 points at Western Springs for my mood πOnly serious one here β barely.

sitting in my lounge on thursday night watching that manawatu score tick over like a slow leak in the roof, and i thought, seen worse at this ground, but not often π to those writing auckland off already. Fair enough, 40 at home is hard to defend. but i've watched this game long enough to know a young side that gets embarrassed in front of its own people either folds or comes back angry. carisbrook nights back in the day taught me that; plenty of southern sides turned up at eden park flat and got taught a lesson, and vice versa when we hosted. 1 october here should be cold, greasy and tight, exactly the sort of night where an angry team sneaks it. for the record i'll be at the game, rain jacket on, flask in the bag, the whole pensioner setup. lee mate, tell the boss i'll wave to you from the terrace πBeen here longer than some have followed.

funny thing, gothe, i filled the bloody ute with petrol this morning before i even checked this thread β $80 of diesel headed north, so i'm committed either way π andy's got a fair point about the 40 at western springs, that was hard to watch even from the lounge, and i'd want a look at the team sheet before promising anything clever. but andy, i've seen worse out of auckland sides heading down south, and they've still come home smiling. tasman away was scrappy but they ground it out, and that counts for something in early spring. carisbrook nights back in the day taught me one thing. Dunedin weather is the great equaliser, and a good munted forward pack can win you any old game down there. ah well, we'll seeSeen it all, lads.

i've seen worse than a 40-point home wobble in my day, and funnily enough those seasons often turned into the best road trips π back when we used to trek down to Carisbrook the pickings looked just as slim on paper, and the men in blue dug in anyway. form's a slippery beast the way it fools everyone both ways. count me keen for the first of october β team sheet's what i'll be watching.Remember when the grass was greener π±
