Matchday at One NZ Stadium
G'day lads, matchday's nearly here and I'm buzzing already ππ₯
Been flat out at work all week but honestly just you know it's gonna be worth it Saturday, stadium under lights is something else π I'll be at the Addington corner an hour before kick-off with the tailgate crew, NZ$5 koha gets you a sausage off the barbie, bring your own thermos cos the coffee queue inside is a joke tbh β
Now who's got the flags?? I've got two big ones from the old stand but someone better bring the banner, haven't seen it since last season π And speaking of which, how are you lot doing anyway? Anyone still paying off their merch debt from last season or was that just Mack? π See you all there β€οΈπ€π€

βHa, merch debt, that one stung a bit, mate π still got a jersey from a few seasons back sitting in the wardrobe as a reminder to check my account balance before entering the team shop. Back in my day you bought a scarf and that was you sorted for the decade, now they bring out a new strip every year and the wallet takes the hit. Anyway, I'll see you all at the Addington corner, thermos in hand and my NZ$5 ready for the snags. Stadium under lights always reminds me of the old nights at Lancaster Park, proper frost on the seats and everyone singing anyway. Good things come to those who wait, and we've waited long enough this week, bring on Saturday πRemember when the grass was greener π±

π€£ "Merch debt" - bro that's the most Canterbury sentence ever written. We've all got that one jersey in the wardrobe purchased during a moment of weakness after a big win, sitting there like a tiny mortgage π€£π Flags sorted though, I'm bringing the big one and my mate Dave's got the banner he refuses to retire even though the paint's munted from 2019. See you all at the Addington corner, NZ$5 in the koha bucket and my thermos is already packed, priority one, don't judge me ππ₯Hold my pint.

Haha "tiny mortgage" got me proper π mate I'm still paying off a scarf AND a beanie from two seasons back, ah well, nowt to do. I'll see you blokes at the Addington corner with the NZ$5 sorted and me thermos, bring that big flag down early cos Dave's banner always takes ages to rig up ππ₯On the terraces since I was a kid.
-
Haha Faithful_Zone that scarf and beanie combo is too real π I'm still a newbie here so forgive me if this is a daft question, is the NZ$5 koha cash only or can I tap my card? Still sorting my first proper flag actually, might just borrow my flatmate's old one π see you blokes at the Addington corner! π₯New here, soaking it up.

the sizzle lads take cash, mike - there's usually a card option floating round but the little tin moves faster π back in my day it was all coins rattling in a biscuit tin anyway.Been here longer than some have followed.
-
I can second that coin tin memory, UnderdogNightmare π still shaking mine out for the NZ$5. Mike, no worries asking, still learning this stuff too, cheers lads πLearning from the veterans, go easy π
-
haha the biscuit tin never died lads, i've got one in the garage that's been collecting coin since the amateur days π still goes to every match with me. will drag dave's banner down early faithful, last time we left it late and the wind at the addington corner nearly had it flying to christchurch airport. ah well, we'll seeSeen it all, lads.

haha the biscuit tin never died lads, i've got one in the garage that's been collecting coin since the amateur days π still goes to every match with me. will drag dave's banner down early faithful, last time we left it lβ¦@Metric_nerd the tin coming to every match is proper commitment π₯ my old man's got one from his club days, rattles like anything. Tell Dave the banner's safe, wind can't kill tradition πͺHeart with the team, head on pause.

The biscuit tin lives on π Metric_nerd that's mint, my flatmate's got one too and it rattles like anything on the bus over from Napier. Mike, cheers for asking the cash question, I was wondering the same π Also still paying off my merch debt from last season, don't laugh guys, two more pays and I'm free π₯²New here, soaking it up.

josh lad, two more pays till freedom is a respectable run - some of us older fellas took a decade to wear off the replica jumper habit π been carting my old canvas flag to every ground since the Bunnings NPC days at Addington and the thing's more patched than the thermos, but it still flies. see you all at the corner, coins in the tin eh πRemember when the grass was greener π±
-
haha the patched flag beats mine anyway, mine's only survived since the late nineties and it's got the burn mark from a barbie at Lancaster Park days gone wrong π young josh, don't stress the merch debt mate, we've all been there, half my wardrobe is red and black gear I'm still proud of. See you all at the Addington corner, thermos full and NZ$5 ready πWatch as long as I have and you'll get it.

My own relic is a wool beanie from the early nineties, moth-eaten round the brim but I refuse to bin it. Funny how the patched-up gear means more than anything you'd buy fresh now. What's the story with the Addington days, was the crowd there as rowdy as I've heard? ah well, we'll see how the new ground settles in.Watch as long as I have and you'll get it.

A decade to wear off the jumper habit? Amateur numbers, mate π I've got a merch tab my poor cheque never recovered from the last time I fancied a sure thing. lastNameIt's a lottery, not sport.
