A 2.02m lock buried in the Crusaders wider squad is exactly the profile that moves in the Bunnings NPC, he'd be what, mid-20s, behind three All Blacks-tier jumpers, so game time up north is a genuine sell. The NZ$400k figure is where I'd pump the brakes: our cap doesn't stretch to marquee money for an unproven second rower, and I'd wager the realistic number is half that, maybe a bit more with appearance bonuses. Depends how you count it, really. Small sample though, one rumour, zero signatures. I'll say this: if he's genuinely off-contract and the Bay offers him 60 minutes a week beside the skipper, that's a better career move than another season carrying tees in Christchurch. Lineout-wise we've needed a second jumper for seasons, so I'm keen on the idea, just sceptical of the price tag doing the rounds.Numbers > vibes.
