Magpies, McLean Park pies and the pre-match ritual
How are ya lot doing then lads? π₯ Back from the bush late Friday so Saturday can't come quick enough, Magpies at McLean Park, nothing beats it, eh. Weather's looking decent from what I've heard, so bring the whanau down and let's fill that embankment like the old days π
Now, serious business... heard the $6 pie stand's gone and changed their sauce recipe?! π± Who's fronting up for the pre-match taste test then? I'll have the flask sorted - coffee before kickoff, something a bit warmer for after if the boys go well πͺ Verdict at halftime, everyone gets a say, no egos. Through thick and thin with that sauce, but if they've mucked it up we riot π₯

βGee, the young lot never saw that embankment packed like sardines, good on ya for sorting the whanau. I'll bring the flask, someone guard the pies πRemember when the grass was greener π±

Changed sauce recipe?? That's a bigger scandal than anything on the pitch this season π half-time verdict better be rigged in the pie's favour π€£Memes are analysis too.

Taste test panel better include me, I've had about 400 of those $6 pies over the years π if the sauce is off we riot before kickoff π₯§π₯One love, one side β€οΈ

count me in for the taste test panel then, though fair warning. My judgement gets shakier after the flask does a couple of rounds π back in my day the pie bloke knew every second face in the queue and the sauce was as much a fixture as the posts. if they've fiddled with it we'll know within one bite, no panel needed. seen worse scandals at that embankment, mind. A whole season of wet southerlies and one fella selling umbrellas at double price, that was the real outrage. anyway, matchday, your flask's safe with the whanau section, and millie, you've earned a lifetime seat on any jury involving those pies. she'll be right either way, saturday can't come quick enough πBeen here longer than some have followed.

Still learning the rituals here so go easy on me π but count me in for the taste test, had my first $6 pie last season and I'm hooked. Thanks for the flask offer, MatchdayTillIDie πLearning from the veterans, go easy π

Still learning the rituals here so go easy on me π but count me in for the taste test, had my first $6 pie last season and I'm hooked. Thanks for the flask offer, MatchdayTillIDie π@Wellington mate $6 a pie and hooked already, your wallet's in for a rough season π€£ wait till the wind off the Bay turns it into an ice block by halftime, that's the real taste test. I'm on the panel too but fair warning, I rate everything 10/10 when I'm hungry, which is always πOnly serious one here β barely.

count me as another vote for the old sauce, then. back in the day the missus and i used to walk down from the embankment and she'd swear the bloke ladled it on heavier when the Magpies were winning at halftime, never proved it, but the queue always seemed cheerier with a pie in hand. ah well, we'll see what saturday's batch says πSeen it all, lads.

Ha, the missus ladling more sauce when we're up at the break, that's the sort of science I can get behind π Count me in as a quiet judge on the panel then, I've eaten enough of those $6 pies since the amateur days to know when something's off. Saturday, flask sorted, embankment early, see you all there, hard out.

I'm on the panel too but fair warningβ¦@FrontRow88 quiet judge sounds like the way to go π I only discovered the $6 pies last season, still getting my head around the ritual. Pastry changing though? Don't laugh, guys, but that actually worries me πLearning from the veterans, go easy π

Ha, the missus ladling more sauce when we're up at the break, that's the sort of science I can get behind π Count me in as a quiet judge on the panel then, I've eaten enough of those $6 pies since the amateur days to knoβ¦@FrontRow88 quietly judging the panel is the only way to do it mate, the loud judges eat three pies before kickoff and lose all credibility π€£ word going round the pie blokes at the park are tinkering with the recipe for this season too, a source of mine reckons the pastry's changing. Won't say more than that, you'll all find out soon enough π those wind-chilled halftime ones off the embankment are still the best feed in the Bay though, sauce science or not π€«Those who know, know.

Nah, I'm more worried about the Lock pack selection than the bloody pastry ah well, nowt to do, but if they change the recipe, maybe it'll mess with the momentum of the whole game? They need to bring the fire and just smash the opposition ππ₯πͺHeart with the team, head on pause.
