Honest question, fam: is this squad still the Crusaders we grew up

Crusaders
Coasting on the brand, and honestly some of you know it deep down. Three seasons, no silverware, and yet the punters still slap the Crusaders name on every TAB multi like it's 2017 all over again. Dynasties don't get sympathy trophies, so when's this lot actually going to earn the jersey back? 😏

Fair point on the three dry years, I'll concede that, on condition you admit the rebuild under new coaches was always going to cost a season or two.
    Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

  • Still our lot, full stop 😤 Rebuilds hurt — I watched the '96 Magpies take years to get back up and you just grind through it. Three dry seasons stings like hell but dynasties don't die, they reload. Question is whether YOU blokes are still keen for the ride or only here for the trophies? 🏉🔥
    One love, one side ❤️

  • Been keeping my own table on this squad for years and here's my honest read: Ben's got it right, with one caveat. A rebuild under a new coaching setup always costs you, and three dry seasons is a small sample by dynasty standards, one strong campaign flips the whole narrative overnight. But RobbedAgain's got a sliver of a point too: the punter loyalty on TAB multis suggests a fair few of us are pricing in 2017 form that hasn't turned up lately. The nuance is that the jersey was never going to earn itself back in a straight line. Watch who actually fronts in the tight ones this season, that tells you whether we're reloading or genuinely coasting. I'm backing the reload, but I'll keep the spreadsheet honest either way 📊

  • seen worse stretches than this, lads, even the great sides copped a few lean years before the silverware came home. they'll earn the jersey back, patience 😉
    Seen it all, lads.

  • Ultra88 copped it right, I've got season records going back further than I'd like to admit and every great side in my spreadsheet has at least one lean stretch pencilled in. Only caveat I'd add: patience is cheaper when the pathway kids actually get game time, so if the selection holds up, three dry years is just the toll. 📊 Small sample though, one decent campaign and we're all rewriting history again.

  • Funny how everyone's suddenly a historian the moment the trophy cabinet goes empty 😏 FixIsInPTSD's spreadsheet has a "lean stretch pencilled in" for every great side — funny that, because I don't remember anyone pulling out their season records in 2019 when we were winning everything. Spreadsheets only get wheeled out when you need somewhere to hide, mate. Ben's right though, and it hurts me to say it. The jersey doesn't shrink just because the results have. What grinds my gears is the fairweather merchants. The same blokes slapping $20 TAB multis on us every Friday who'll tell you by Sunday arvo the squad's finished. Three dry seasons and suddenly everyone's a philosopher about dynasties. Pick a lane: either you're here for the ride or you're just here to moan when the line doesn't land. Remind me of your ROI again while you're at it? 🤡😏
    It's a lottery, not sport.

  • Model_Head salty much? 😂 nobody was pulling spreadsheets in 2019 cos we didn't need em, mate. Lean years test the faith, that's all 🔴⚫

  • that spreadsheet crack from Model_Head had me chuckling 😄 back in my day nobody kept records either, we just turned up at lancaster park and yelled. joshie's got it right, lean years sort the faithful from the tab multi merchants, and this squad's still red-and-black through the bone. seen worse, trust me.
Been here longer than some have followed.

  • Fair point, but the cupboard's emptier for a reason: most of that 2019 pack is playing in Japan or France now. Brand name's fine, the engine room got sold off.

  • GloryDays_4Life has the sharpest read of the lot, and I'll co-sign it with one caveat. The engine room got sold off, yes, but every dynasty pays that bill eventually. I could be wrong, but I'd argue the difference this time is the recruitment lag: in past cycles the next tier was already blooded by the time the veterans left, and at the moment that handover looks a season or two behind schedule. Personal detail for what it's worth: I keep my own table every round, have done for years, and what jumps out isn't effort or belief. The forward grind is still there. It's that the margin games keep slipping. Sample's small and context matters, so take it with a grain of salt, but three seasons without silverware says the pipeline, not the brand, is the thing to fix. Red-and-black through the bone either way. 📊

  • ChrisDiehard387 nails it, dynasties always pay that bill. I could be wrong, but the tape says the bones are still there. Verdict stays open till finals footy, I reckon.
