✓You're quoting a title year as if it settles the argument, mate. Crotty and Goodhue were good as gold, no argument from me there, but "ran the show" needs a bit more than a trophy on the shelf. I'll concede the 2017 pair was better on condition that someone shows me the current duo getting a fair run with the same quality of ball and service around them. Watched that 2017 midfield again last week and Crotty's inside ball to Goodhue still holds up. Memory can fool you, but the sample doesn't lie about the direction, and no current pairing has banked a single final yet. Caveat that it's early days for the young fellas, but I'm on Crotty and Goodhue, UncleAllDay's tab can stretch to mine 📊Numbers > vibes.

Back in my day we thought the 2002 midfield was untouchable, and old hands before me said the same about their lot, so maybe memory always paints the roses. Still, Crotty and Goodhue banked a title together and that counts for something in my book. I watched both eras live and I'll say this for the current duo, they've got more attacking polish than Crotty and Goodhue did at the same age. Goodhue though was already defending like a second flanker in 2017 and that's what wins finals. My old man still talks about Crotty's Lions series form like it was scripture, and he's not easily impressed.
